The 2023 GAC GS4 is a front-wheel-drive, five-seater compact crossover. For our market, the GS4 is available in only a single variant: the GS4 GB 1.5T GDI AT, and it is priced at Php 1,160,000.
Under the hood of the new GAC GS4 is a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine rated at 166 horsepower and 265 Nm of torque, driving the front wheels through a six-speed automatic gearbox.
Size-wise, the GS4 is 4,545mm long, 1,865mm wide, and 1,668mm tall. It also has a wheelbase length of 2,680mm.
Competitors of the GS4 include the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, Toyota RAV4, Toyota Corolla Cross, Honda CR-V, Geely Azkarra, and Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
Launch
Initially, the GAC GS4 was initially introduced to the Philippines when GAC entered the market for the first time in 2013. In 2021, the brand is introducing a next-gen version of the GS4 that comes with a lot of improvements done to its powertrain and to its on-board features.
GAC GS4 Exterior
When it comes to looks, the 2023 GS4 assumes the familiar form of a modern crossover SUV. With the update though, the brand has decided to give it some touches to make it stand out even more. For instance, it now features a new angular front bumper, as well as a larger grille which mirrors the design of the one on the GS6. The side also comes with sharper character lines, and the rear gets slimmer, more distinctive-looking taillights.
For exterior equipment, the new GS4 gets LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, power adjustable side mirrors, and a set of 17-inch alloy wheels.
Interior
Inside, the GAC GS4 Philippines can seat up to five occupants, and its contemporarily designed interior comes with plenty of soft-touch surfaces. The seats themselves have leatherette trims, and second-row seats come with a center armrest.
Other features found inside the new GS4 is a panoramic sunroof, a six-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, a leatherette-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, and an automatic climate control system with rear vents.
Technology & Safety Features
Dominating the dashboard of the 2023 GAC GS4 is an eight-inch touchscreen headunit with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and USB connectivity. It is then linked to a set of six speakers.
Regarding safety, this new model from GAC gets a rear-view camera, cruise control, a passive entry passive start system, four airbags, anti-lock braking with electronic brake-force distribution, hill-start assist, hill descent control, tire pressure monitoring, ISOFIX child seat anchors, electronic stability control, among others.
Platform & Chassis
The new GAC GS4 is a unibody crossover that uses a MacPherson strut front suspension, and a multi-link rear suspension. Braking is handled by front and rear disc brakes, and it then uses an electronic parking brake with Autohold function.
