The Ford Expedition 2023 Philippines is a full-SUV, seven-seater SUV. For the Philippine market, it has two variants. These are the Expedition 3.5 V6 Limited Max, and the Expedition Limited Max w/ Bucket seats. Currently, these are available at Php 4,479,000 and Php 4,612,000 respectively. 

Under the hood of the Philippine-spec Expedition is a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine capable of producing up to 375 horsepower and 637 Nm of torque. The said model then uses a 4x4 drivetrain, and 10-speed automatic gearbox w/ paddle shifters. 

Size-wise, the Expedition is 5,539mm long, 2,388mm wide, and 1,956mm in height. It also has a wheelbase length of 3,353mm, and a ground clearance of 249mm. 

Locally, this full-size Ford model competes against the Toyota Land Cruiser, Nissan Patrol, and Chevrolet Suburban.

Launch

Ford Motor company comes up with a new Ford Expedition, which garnered the title of being the largest off-road SUV that is also capable of towing. Over approximately two decades, the Ford Expedition has been through three generations. The third generation was launched in 2007.

The American multinational automaker launched the all-new Ford Expedition in the Manila International Auto Show 2018 that takes place on the 6th of April 2019. One of the most significant changes in this full-size SUV is the all-aluminum chassis that makes it lighter than the model it replaces.

Ford Philippines offer the Ford Expedition in four color options: Shadow Black, Magnetic Metallic, White Platinum, and Blue Metallic.

In 2022, the Ford Expedition was discontinued. 

Ford Expedition Exterior

The Ford Expedition 2023 has big proportioned, which is more than large for its segment. The front end features a huge chrome grilled flanked by fog lamps and a couple of halogen projector headlights, which gives the SUV a more intimidating appearance. The sides of the vehicle have a minimal amount of creases. Still, the American multinational automaker opted to include deployable step boards that will only be revealed once the door is opened. It will tuck into the body every time the door is closed. 

Going to the rear part of the vehicle, LED taillights to flank the openable rear glass and door. Overall, the Ford Expedition has five doors in total.

Ford Expedition Interior

Since the Expedition Philippines is a full-size SUV, the cabin is big as well. The door panels and seats are covered in leather. The ambient lighting adds mood to the cabin. A panoramic sunroof is also available in this SUV, which allows natural light to illuminate the cabin. The three-spoke multi-function steering wheel features lots of control buttons while the console looks futuristic and provides loads of information.

The dashboard’s boxy feel looks great, particularly the touchscreen infotainment system that is also large. The covered-up center console comes with a couple of round controls and knobs. The cabin also has big and covered-up storage spaces.

Technology & Safety Features

Ford Expedition 2023 is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen head unit with Ford’s SYNC3 system for a seamless smartphone pairing through USB. It also has Android Auto and CarPlay features. The infotainment system is also Aux and Bluetooth capable. Multiple USB ports and a standard power outlet are also present in the vehicle so passengers can conveniently charge their phones. Sound is transmitted via a 12-speaker system by Bang and Olufsen.

Ford Expedition is also equipped with Ford's Road Safety Canopy System. The cabin has a total of seven airbags, which include dual front pair, curtain, side, and knee unit for the driver. This full-size SUV also comes with stability control, a blind spot monitoring system, ABS with EBD, and an advanced traction control system.

Platform & Chassis

Expedition 2023 Philippines is a five-door, eight-seater full-size SUV. The Michigan-based automaker improved the Ford Expedition's platform by using aluminum in making it. Because of its all-aluminum body, it is 136 kilograms lighter than its previous predecessor.

The front suspension uses short, and long-arm coil-over shocks, and the rear utilizes a multilink system. Both suspension come with stabilizer bars that help increase the rigidity. All four wheels have disc brakes housed in 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.

In terms of dimension, the height of the Ford Expedition is 1956mm. The length of the vehicle is 5639 mm; the width is 2388 mm, the wheelbase is 3353 mm, and a ground clearance of 249 mm.

Engine & Drivetrain

The Expedition gets its power from a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 power plant that makes 375 horsepower and 637 Newton-meter of torque. For the transmission, the engine is partnered to a 10-speed SelectShift automatic gearbox. Ford outfitted this full-size SUV with a 4x4 system, which can quickly shift whenever a terrain mode in the vehicle is activated or when sport mode is engaged. The said settings include Mud/Rut, Normal, Sand, Grass/Snow/Gravel, EcoSelect, Tow/Haul, and Sport.

Ford Expedition can deliver a mileage of 14.7 liters per 100 kilometers when driving in the city and 10.7 liters per 100 kilometers on highway runways.
