Ivana Alawi gets Ford Expedition SUV as new year’s gift for mom

Children have a variety of ways to express their appreciation for their parents, from the smallest tokens to the grandest of gestures. Actress, model and social media celebrity Ivana Alawi prefers the latter, especially when it’s disguised as one of her prank videos that she has become known for.

Her first viral video for 2021 features her mother, Fatima Marbella, also known as Mama Alawi. As Ivana expressed her wish to surprise her mom with a new car, she headed straight for the Ford dealership at Bonifacio Global City to pick out the perfect four-wheeled gift. There was plenty to see at the showroom, and Ivana wasted no time in trying out the different models on display.

She first considers the Ford EcoSport crossover but quickly concludes that it’s a bit too small for comfort. At the other extreme is the Transit van, the biggest in Ford’s current lineup, with Ivana quipping that it can fit her entire family inside. Although the driver’s seat on the Ranger pickup impressed her, she was still undecided.

The Everest midsize SUV caught her eye for a moment, but when Ivana wanted to know which was the most premium model in the showroom, she was pointed to a shiny Ford Expedition rendered in metallic blue body paint. Ivana especially marveled at the retractable step board that automatically deployed when the doors opened, as well as the power-folding third-row bench seats.

The particular trim she opted for appears to be the 3.5 Limited MAX 4WD with second-row captain’s chairs, which carries a sticker price of Php 4.62 million.

Other notable features on this variant include a panoramic sunroof, 15 cupholders, dual-zone automatic climate control, and an 8-inch touchscreen with SYNC 3 connected to a Bang & Olufsen premium audio system. 

The big reveal as part of a staged prank

A 3.5L EcoBoost V6 powers the Expedition with 375 hp and 637 Nm of torque, mated to a 10-speed SelectShift transmission. A Terrain Management System complements the four-wheel drivetrain in tackling changing road conditions, while among the safety features are AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, Forward Sensing System, Blind-Spot Information System, Hill Descent Control, and an SOS Post-Crash Alert System.

Satisfied with her purchase, Ivana promptly drives it home. She surprises Mama Alawi the next day, even showing her documents to prove that the Expedition is already under her unbelieving mother's name. Deeply touched by her daughter's gesture, Mama Alawi takes the brood out for a spin in her new ride. We swear we could hear parents everywhere sighing, “Sana all.”
