German automaker Volkswagen first introduced the Tiguan in 2007 with a PQ46 platform of the B6 Generation VW Passat. The nameplate made headlines as one of the company’s best-selling vehicles worldwide. In 2018, a second-generation Tiguan was introduced with a refreshed face featuring stronger details and a more comfortable driving experience through new technology. The interiors have also improved from its plain black finishes to the new upgraded, more premium upholstery and accents. The 2018 Tiguan is a compact crossover 5-seater vehicle. Consistent with Volkswagen’s style, it features smooth curves, hood lines, and roof rail that create a tough yet timeless look. Inside, the vehicle is generally all about comfort with its spacious cabin that maximizes legroom, its cruise control feature, and its multi-function drive wheel. The new crossover model also does not lack in the safety department with its climatronic dual-zone air conditioning, keyless-go entry, and exit, push start system, and hill hold system for a safer climb or descent. The vehicle runs on a 1.4-liter gasoline engine paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Take on any adventure with the VW Tiguan
Exterior
The Volkswagen Tiguan sports a simple yet sophisticated styling, staying true to the brand’s design language. The character lines on each side and the horizontal grille in front of the vehicle give the timeless feel the brand is known for. It is equipped with automatic Xenon headlights, static cornering lights, LED taillights, and fog lamps which are as functional as they are stylish.
The Tiguan rides on 17-inch alloys with 235/55 R17 tires. Its unique features include rain-sensing wipers and heated side mirrors.
Interior
The overall cabin ambiance of the Tiguan is notable because of the comfort and convenience it brings to the drive. As expected from Volkswagen, the vehicle is decked in premium finishes displayed through its leather-clad seats, plush materials, and soft plastic. The dashboard is as straightforward as other models in the brand’s lineup, making it easy to get used to. A nice addition to its interior features is the two-pane panoramic sunroof which allows for natural light and ventilation.
Technology & Safety
The Volkswagen Tiguan is fully equipped with numerous tech and safety features, making the model worth its price. Its extensive safety technology includes a climatronic dual-zone air conditioning with pollen filter and rear vent, an automatic climate control system, a keyless-go entry and exit, a push start system, tire pressure monitoring, and a hill-hold system for climb or descent.
For added convenience, the compact crossover is decked with parking sensors, cruise control, automatic headlights, power-adjustable seats, and rain-sensing wipers. The electronic parking brakes make the Tiguan ideal for driving through city traffic. To it all off, the model offers a noise isolation feature that provides extra comfort for passengers and the driver alike.
Platform & Chassis
The Tiguan sits on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform, powered by a 1.4-liter engine that sends power directly to the front wheels. McPherson independent suspension remains at the front while multi-link independent suspension at the rear. Its stopping power comes from the front ventilated disc and rear disc brakes.
Engine & Drivetrain
A 1.4-liter four-cylinder in-line turbo gasoline power plant with BlueMotion technology powers the Volkswagen Tiguan. The engine produces 148 hp and 250 Nm of torque and is attached to a 6-speed dual-clutch direct-shift gearbox (DSG) transmission. However, the transmission limits the Tiguan’s capacity to move from a standstill. Accelerated driving is another story as the Tiguan manages to provide power on demand and go from 1 to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds.
