Launch
Worldwide, the Porsche Boxster was first unveiled in 1996. Its name was derived from mixing boxer, its engine specification and roadster, its body style. In late 2005, the second-generation Porsche Boxer was launched together with the Porsche Cayman, named after an alligator species. The third-generation variants were introduced in 2012 fitted with useful upgrades. In 2016, to complement the ever-changing demands of sport cars, a fourth generation was released. Engine & Drivetrain
The Porsche 718 Boxster, the Porsche 718 Cayman, and the 718 T variant Cayman runs using a 2.0-liter turbocharged boxer engine that produces 300 horsepower and Newton-meters of 380.
The S variant is powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged boxer engine that generates 350 horsepower and a torque of 420 Newton-meters.
The said models come with either manual or a Porsche Doppel Kupplungs getriebe transmission.
On the other hand, their GTS offering is fitted with a powerful 4.0 six-cylinder engine matched with a six-speed manual transmission able to produce a torque of 420 Newton-meters and top speed of 293km/h.
