It received a sharper new look and more on-board tech.

The next-generation 2024 Ford Mustang for the Philippine market is officially unveiled. It enters the country in two variants the entry-level 2.3-liter EcoBoost Premium and the top-spec 5.0-liter GT Premium.

2024 Ford Mustang GT Premium

This is the seventh-generation S650 model of Ford’s famous pony car which was initially revealed back in 2022 at the North American International Auto Show. The new model replaces the old S550 and it gets a sharper more modern look, in addition to a more potent powertrain.

So, what can buyers expect from the 2024 Ford Mustang?

Exterior

Just like before, the all-new Mustang is offered as a brawny but low-slung pony car that’s brimming with sporty appeal.

Up front, it gets a pair of new tri-bar LED headlamp clusters. These flank a wide mesh grille, which in turn goes on top of an angular front bumper. The latter also gets more mesh-covered intake vents, as well as a protruding front lip.

Of note, the EcoBoost Premium version gets a slightly different front end. It does come with similar headlamps, but its grille lacks the glossy fitments that sub-divide the one on the GT Premium trim. The entry-level version also gets a less aggressive front bumper.

From the side, the all-new pony car model still gets a sloping roof line and a long hood, but its rear haunches are much more prominent than before. Crisp body lines then lead towards a sharper kinked rear end with triple-bar LED taillamps and an aggressively-styled rear trunk spoiler.

Other exterior features available on the next-gen pony car include rain-sensing wipers, power-folding and heated side mirrors, an animated approach lamp, hood vents (GT), and LED daytime running lamps.

For wheels, both trims get a 19-inch aluminum wheelset. The one on the EcoBoost Premium comes in Carbonized Gray, while the GT Premium’s set is finished in Ebony Black.

Interior

The interior of the 2024 Mustang, in turn, has had a full rework with larger digital displays and more storage cubby holes. A lot of the interior surfaces, as well as the new flat-bottom tilt and telescopic steering wheel, are also clad in leather.

Cooling inside the 2024 Mustang is provided by a dual-zone automatic climate control system. The driver meanwhile, is provided with Recaro leather-trimmed sport seats that provide an ample amount of bolstering. Likewise available is a push-to-start button with keyless entry functionality, customizable ambient lighting, and paddle shifters, among other features.

Tech & Safety

While Ford beefed up the Mustang’s exterior design and comfort, it also improved its on-board tech.

It features a 13-inch central touchscreen display

As mentioned above, the all-new pony car gets loads of digital displays. Specifically, its cockpit now sports a 12-inch digital gauge cluster while its central screen is a 13-inch infotainment display. These two are linked together to form a wrap-around screen that’s angled towards the driver.

For connectivity, the central screen comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also features Sync 4 software with enhanced voice recognition. Feeding sound into the cabin of the 2024 Mustang meanwhile is a 12-piece Bang & Olufsen sound system.

Safety-wise, the Mustang gets electronic stability control, anti-lock braking, a tire pressure monitor, a tire inflation kit, a perimeter alarm, and a total of eight airbags. These are reinforced by several advanced driver assist systems (ADAS) collectively known as the Ford Co-Pilot360.

On the Mustang, the Co-Pilot360 consists of adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, automatic headlamps, lane keep assist, driver alerts, cross-traffic braking, and many others.

Engine

The 2024 Mustang gets different powertrains. For the EcoBoost Premium model, it uses a turbocharged inline-4 gasoline engine. The top-spec GT Premium meanwhile, gets a beefier gasoline-powered V8.

At the most, the four-banger Mustang can put out 314 horsepower and 475 Nm of torque. The V8 on the other hand, can dish out 486 hp and 567 Nm of torque. For reference, the previous generation Mustang GT Premium can deliver 460 hp and 569 Nm of torque.

For transmissions, both the EcoBoost Premium and GT Premium trims use a 10-speed automatic gearbox with six drive modes. These are Sport, Normal, Slippery, Track, Drag, and Custom.

As standard, the Mustang uses a McPherson strut front suspension and an Independent Integral-Link suspension. Stopping power is also provided by disc brakes for all four wheels. But for better performance, this Ford is also available with a “Performance Pack” which includes a limited slip differential, front tow hoods, a 3.55 final drive ratio, active valve exhausts, and Ford’s MagneRide damping system, among others.

Price

The 2024 Ford Mustang EcoBoost Premium is priced at Php 3,499,000, while the Mustang GT Premium starts at Php 3,999,000. Availability for this model starts in May this year, but currently, those interested may already place their reservations at the Ford Philippines online portal.
