Ford’s Mustang, the nameplate that popularized pony cars nearly 60 years ago, is back as an all-new model for the 2024 model year. It ushers in the seventh generation as the most powerful yet with a redesigned exterior, a cabin brimming with tech, and a selection of two new power units under the hood.

The Blue Oval brand retains the traditional coupe and convertible body styles for its latest stallion, all while singing its praises as the most exhilarating and visceral yet. It will be available in both EcoBoost and GT guise, and Ford has promised that their corresponding engines will do justice to the fighter-jet inspired cockpit.
Exterior
Customers and fans are familiar with the Mustang’s heritage aesthetics, to which Ford adds chiseled details to give the model a solidly assertive face. The new Mustang doesn’t stray too far from the outgoing model, right down to the bones as it rides on the S650 platform, building on the formula of the sixth-generation car’s S550.
The 2024 Ford Mustang carries the same basic form that has made its predecessors recognizable to fans
The signature three-section hood features a low, horizontal brow that’s aligned with the tri-bar LED headlamps surrounding the trapezoidal mesh grille, echoing shades of the original 60s-era design. What’s more, each model in the Mustang range comes with its own unique front end, with the GT sporting larger grille openings designed for increased airflow, accompanied by new hood vents and a revised front splitter.
A convertible option is also available
Ford has optimized the Mustang’s roofline to be sleek yet high enough to allow ingress and egress without drivers having to take off their helmet, which should be good news for those bringing the car on track days. The prominent crease along the sides is gone, making for a cleaner profile.
Just beyond the doors, the wide haunches begin to manifest, framing the raked rear window towards the extended rear spoiler module that hovers over the new signature tri-bar rear lights. Aerodynamic balance is further supported by a redesigned rear diffuser.
New tri-bar tail lights adorn the rear end
Convertible versions of the new Mustang drop the insulated fabric top with a one-touch single-handle center latch. New for the 2024 model year is the Mustang Design Series, bringing more customization options. The Bronze Design Series Appearance Package puts Sinister Bronze alloy wheels on all four corners.
Interior
More radical changes can be found on the interior, with what Ford claims to be the most technologically advanced and driver-centric cockpit to date. The 2024 Mustang offers a standard cloth interior with optional Micro Suede vinyl inserts for starters, moving up to wrapped and accent-stitched dashboard material on the Premium models.
Recaro seats are offered on the Ford Mustang GT Performance Package
For EcoBoost trim levels, seats are dressed in ActiveX synthetic leather upholstery. Meanwhile, GT versions come with leather inserts on the seats.
Tech & Safety
Behind the all-new race-inspired steering wheel, the familiar analog gauges have been evicted from the dashboard in favor of a 12.4-inch customizable digital instrument cluster that’s based on the Unreal Engine 3D creation tool used on modern video games.
This display can be configured to seamlessly flow into the 13.2-inch central touchscreen running on Ford SYNC 4, canted towards the driver. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are just two of the standard connectivity options, with built-in Amazon Alexa and Ford Streaming allow infotainment streaming with simple voice commands. A 12-piece Bang & Olufsen sound system delivers the tunes.
The analog gauges are now simulated on the 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster
High-mounted USB ports can be used to plug in track cameras, doing away with messy wires strewn all over the cockpit. A wireless charging pad is optional, and the new Mustang takes a page from the Mustang Mach-E’s playbook by featuring Ford Power-Up over-the-air (OTA) software updates.
Ford’s Co-Pilot360 driver-assist suite also makes an appearance, bringing Speed Sign Recognition, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, and Lane Centering Assist. Active Pothole Mitigation is another handy feature, constantly monitoring factors such as body, steering, and braking input to adjust suspension response.
There’s also the FordPass app that offers capabilities such as remote vehicle start and stop, door locking and unlocking, as well as vehicle health and status checks. That's not even mentioning the new Remote Rev feature that allows users to make the engine growl with just a press of the key fob.
Engine & Drivetrain
Mustang EcoBoost variants get an all-new 2.3-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine. Meanwhile, the GT is now powered by an advanced 5.0-liter Coyote V8 capable of over 480 hp, using an innovative dual air intake box and dual-throttle body design that allows increased air flow rates, maximizing performance.
The new Mustang comes with tweaked versions of its 2.3-liter EcoBoost and 5.0-liter Coyote engines
Customers can opt for either a 6-speed manual or Ford’s sophisticated 10-speed automatic transmission, the latter capable of alter its shift patterns to match any of six user-selectable drive modes (Normal, Sport, Slippery, Drag, Track, and a custom setting).
Even novice drivers will feel like track pros with the new electronic drift brake
Both the Mustang EcoBoost and GT can be had with the optional Performance Pack, bringing track-focused equipment such as a front tower brace, Torsen limited-slip differential and MagneRide active suspension. The GT Performance Pack also adds brake ducts and a standard auxiliary engine oil cooler. For more adventurous drivers, a segment-first electronic drift brake unlocks the new Mustang’s full rear-wheel-drive capabilities.
Pricing
Estimated pricing for the 2024 Ford Mustang at $30,000 (more than Php 1.7 million) for the EcoBoost variant and $40,000 (Php 2.28 million) for the flagship GT. The new model will be built at Ford’s Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan, and is expected to go on sale by the second half of 2023.
