This was confirmed by Ford during the media ride and drive event for the next-generation Ranger in Phuket, Thailand, which Philkotse attended.

So what is FordPass? To put it simply, it is an application that allows the owners of particular Ford models to control their vehicles via their smartphones.

Specifically, it can be used to remotely lock or unlock a vehicle’s doors, and it can also help find your car via its vehicle locator function. The latter, of course, will be useful if you left your ride in a large and disorienting parking lot.

Also, it enables remote vehicle starting, while at the same time pre-cooling the interior by way of the climate control’s Auto mode.

Other features that FordPass offers include an easier way to book a service or locating a nearby Ford dealership, a vehicle status checker complete with vehicle health alerts, access to Ford’s roadside assistance phone number, and access to various guides.

Fancy the idea of using your phone to control your Ford vehicle?

Of note, not all features of the FordPass are confirmed to arrive in the Philippines, as this app’s feature set does vary depending on the market. Moreover, the said app is only available for phones that use Android 7.0 and above versions, and iOS 13.0 and above versions.

Furthermore, the Blue Oval brand also said that the FordPass app will not arrive just yet with the next-generation Ford Ranger, which is scheduled for its Philippine launch in the middle of this year. The automaker did say that the feature will be coming soon.

So, are you interested in the idea of literally using your smartphone to remotely control your car? If you are, then keep it here on Philkotse for more updates.
