Still aggressive, but it has been described as “less frowny.”

If you’re a big fan of muscle cars and pony cars, then we’ve got some great news for you. Ford is already working on the next-generation Mustang for the 2023 model year, and we know this due to the fact that several leaked pictures of this upcoming model have been leaked.

From what we could see from the leaked pics, the upcoming Mustang gets a squarer front fascia. The grille is still sizable, though one may describe it as generally sleeker and even less aggressive than the current Mustang model.

That however is the standard version. The GT variant in turn, and despite the blurry picture, looks to retain the same aggressiveness as the current Mustang GT. It then gets a huge hood scoop and a much larger grille, with vents that are apparently much larger and more open. It also looks a bit more angular than the current model.

There were also camouflaged pictures of the upcoming, next-gen Mustang that we talked about before. From these, we can see that the familiar shape of the ‘Stang was retained.

As for mechanicals, there is also a report from Ford Authority, a publication that focuses on Ford news, that the next-gen Mustang will still use a front-engine/rear-wheel-drive layout, and the GT will still use a V8. If true, this will dispel the previous rumors that this Ford sports car will come with all-wheel-drive.

That piece of news has of course pleased the Mustang purists on social media. An all-wheel-drive Ford Mustang might prove to be interesting, but many have argued that it is not “in keeping of the Mustang’s spirit.”

Going back to the leak, a photo of the interior has also surfaced. It was also posted on Ford Authority, and from what we could see, it gets some modern touches like a digital gauge cluster. It even gets a flat-bottom steering-wheel. Just like the exterior though, many elements of the cockpit are likewise obscured in black cloth for the meantime.
