This is for SsangYong fans who have missed that familiar driving feel.

Fans of the SsangYong Tivoli subcompact crossover might have been understandably disappointed when the gasoline variant skipped the 2020 model year. The good news is, the South Korean automaker wants to make up for that absence by bringing it back for 2021.

Visually distinguishing the new variant from its oil-burning brethren are a pair of revised projector-type headlamps. Even the fog lamps located at the front bumper have been changed from a three-row array to circular units.

The LED tail lamps have also been revamped, and the unit sports a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels.

The gasoline Tivoli still sports the same generous dimensions of 4,195mm in length, 1,795mm in width, and 1,590mm in height, combined with a wheelbase of 2,600mm.

All these translate into a spacious cabin for both passengers and cargo. Interior features include a multi-function leather steering wheel, color-adjustable instrument cluster, and an 8-inch touchscreen head unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.

Under the hood, a 1.6L e-XDGi160 gasoline power unit provides 128 hp and 160 Nm of torque, with power going to the front wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission. Customers will certainly welcome the more familiar driving feel, as well as the smoother acceleration and overall refined drive.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have been carried over from the Tivoli Diesel Premium

“The new SsangyYong Tivoli lineup is our answer to the growing needs of many car buyers for reasonably priced, feature-rich alternatives in the growing subcompact crossover space,” said SsangYong Philippines President Japheth Castillo. “With this latest Tivoli offering, we are confident that crossover shoppers will see the true value and benefits that the SsangYong lineup has to offer.”

The Tivoli Gas Sport will be positioned between the current 1.6L Diesel Premium and 1.6L Diesel Sport trims. To celebrate its return, SsangYong is offering it at an introductory price of Php 970,000. Watch for the Tivoli Gas Sport at your nearest SsangYong dealership this month.
