Following the appearance of the Suzuki Swift Concept at the Japan Mobility Show, the Japanese automaker has unveiled the road-ready, production version. This will serve as the nameplate’s fourth-generation model, succeeding the previous iteration that ran for around seven years.
2024 Suzuki Swift
From the looks of it, Suzuki retained almost all of the design elements seen in the concept car. While the automaker said the new Swift is coming soon, there’s no confirmation yet that it will arrive on our shores. So for now, let’s check out what’s new in this small, sporty hatchback.
Exterior
Exterior-wise, the 2024 Suzuki Swift comes with a redesigned grille flanked by revised headlights with boomerang-like daytime running lights (DRLs). The rear taillights also have a similar design concept. The front and rear lighting clusters are smoked, providing a sportier finish compared to the current model.
The hatchback just got even sportier
Based on the concept car, the new hatchback spans 3,860mm in length, 1,695mm in width, and 1,500mm in height. It is still at par with the current model including the same wheelbase rated at 2,450mm, suggesting the new version is still underpinned by the same platform.
Interior
Inside, the cabin gets a more modern appeal thanks to the use of a two-tone black and white finish. The white accents are predominantly found on the dashboard and door panels. Also giving the cabin a more modern touch is the digital display for the climate control albeit the instrument cluster remains analog.

Tech & Safety
A nine-inch infotainment touchscreen is mounted on the top of the dashboard, which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It is also available with the Suzuki Connect which allows owners to check the status of their hatch on their smartphone and the driver recorder interlocking.
Smarter and safer
The new Swift boasts new safety features including the brand’s Safety Support, providing functions such as a blind spot monitor, collision damage mitigation brake, rear cross traffic alert, and an omnidirectional monitor camera. The car also adopts an electronic parking brake with a brake hold function.
Engine
Under the hood, the vehicle comes with a new engine, particularly a newly developed 1.2-liter Z12E three-cylinder engine. No performance figures were shared as of this writing. This will replace the 1.2-liter gas engine with four cylinders available in the PH-spec model. The new engine is paired with a new continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The new Swift goes hybrid
But perhaps the most significant update is the addition of a mild hybrid system. While the hybrid electric motor can assist the engine in propulsion, it cannot drive the wheels alone. Speaking of which, Suzuki will be offering front-wheel-drive (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) versions.
Price
Suzuki hasn’t put out the pricing just yet. But considering the new technologies and hybrid system, the 2024 model should get a price bump. For reference, the PH-spec Swift is currently offered at Php 989,000.
