The new hatch is looking sportier and smarter.

Suzuki announced that the all-new 2024 Swift will be joining its booth as a concept car at this year's Japan Mobility Show (formerly known as the Tokyo Motor Show). This would serve as a preview of the next-generation Swift, which will succeed the current third-generation iteration that has been running since late 2016.

The Japanese automaker has revealed quite a few specs already ahead of the all-new Swift Concept’s debut later this month. The hatch will be equipped with a host of advanced safety features such as dual sensor brake support, collision mitigation braking, an adaptive high beam system, and a driver monitoring system.

The silhouette of the concept car is similar to the current version. The former comes with a sportier design with a plethora of blacked-out trims on the exterior including smoked headlights and taillights. Inside, Suzuki integrated modern touches to the finish including a dashboard-mounted infotainment screen and posh-looking white accents.

In terms of the drive, Suzuki promises the new version to continue delivering fun driving feels while retaining a daily driver characteristic. The engine is said to be built with a balance between driving performance and fuel efficiency in mind. While the engine specs are still up in the air, the upcoming Swift Concept could not come with an electric powertrain. Although, nothing is official as of this writing.

Among the reasons that point to the said speculation is the fact that the new Swift Concept wasn't included in the electric vehicle (EV) lineup for the Japan Mobility Show. The automaker will showcase three EV concepts at the auto show - eVX, eWX, and e Every Concept.

The Swift just got sportier

The eVX is Suzuki's first global strategic EV slated to offer a claimed range of 500km. Meanwhile, the eWX is the brand's attempt to make an all-electric wagon with an estimated range of 230 km. As for the e Every Concept, this mini commercial EV will address the market for zero tailpipe-emission workhorses.

The Swift Concept will be joined by the Spacia Concept as the non-EV entries at the auto show. It is a minicar that appears just like the Suzuki APV but with an S-Presso front fascia. Other production models at the booth will be the three-door Jimny, Hustler, and Solio.

Apart from these four-wheelers, the automaker will also bring motorcycle concepts, a motorized wheelchair, and even a flying car concept made in collaboration with SkyDrive Inc.

No production plans have been scheduled for the all-new Swift just yet. The current generation is still available in the Philippine market for Php 972,000. For now, let's see how the concept will look in the metal once the Japan Mobility Show commences on October 26. Hopefully, the production model won't look far-off this concept.
