The 2023 Maxus D90 Philippines is a midsize, seven-seater SUV for the Philippine market. It has two variants available locally, the entry-level D90 Premium 4x2 AT priced at Php 1,918,000, and the top-spec D90 Premium 4x4 AT priced at Php 2,269,000.
Under the hood of the D90 Premium 4x2 AT is a 2.0-liter turbodiesel inline-4 engine that can make up to 159 horsepower and 375 Nm of torque. The D90 4x4’s powertrain meanwhile is a 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel that can churn out 214 horsepower and 480 Nm of torque. On both variants, these are paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Size-wise, the Maxus D90 is 5,005mm long, 1,932mm wide, and 1,875mm in height. It also has a ground clearance of 210mm.
Locally, the Maxus D90 competes against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Nissan Terra, Isuzu mu-X, Ford Everest, among others.
Launch
The Maxus D90 midsize, seven-seater SUV was introduced to the Philippine market on September 15, 2021. Before that though, it was initially launched as a concept vehicle back in the 2016 Beijing Auto Show. The production model then debuted at the 2016 Guangzhou International Motor Show.
Maxus D90 Exterior
On the outside, the Maxus D90, like its competitors, is a macho but premium-looking SUV. But as per its introduction, the D90 is also the largest midsize SUV in the Philippine market. This is because it measures 5,005mm long, 1,932mm wide, and 1,875mm tall. It also has a wheelbase length of 2,950mm.
The Philippine-spec D90 is kitted out with automatic LED headlamps, LED taillights, LED daytime running lamps, a sunroof, and a set of 19-inch alloy wheels.
Maxus D90 Interior
Inside, the D90 2023 features a premium interior with an abundance of soft touch surfaces. All of its seats are clad in leather, and space for elbows and legs are generous.
Keeping its occupants cool is a dual-zone automatic air-conditioning system with rear vents. The driver is also provided with a 12-way power adjustable driver’s seat, push-to-start button, cruise control, keyless entry, among others.
Maxus D90 Technology and Safety features
On the dashboard of the D90 is a 12-inch touchscreen head unit. It has Apple CarPlay, and it is linked to an eight-piece speaker system.
Safety for this Maxus SUV is then handled by six airbags, stability control, traction control, hill-start and hill-descent control, rain-sensing wipers, etc.
Platform and chassis
The D90 midsize SUV uses the same ladder frame chassis that the Maxus T60 pickup truck uses. Suspension-wise, its rear uses a multi-link type and its front uses a double-wishbone type suspension. Braking is then handled by disc brakes for all four wheels.
