The Maxus V80 is the brand’s entry into the commercial vehicle segment, offered in both passenger and cargo-hauling configurations. Two variants of the model have been released which are the V80 Comfort, which is a 13-seater van, and the V80 Flex which is built for heavy lifting. Both variants are powered by a 2.5L turbo-diesel engine. The V80 Comfort and the Flex are physically modeled like conventional vans with a slightly protruding bumper in contrast to classic Japanese flat-nosed vans. Inside the Comfort variant is a spacious cabin that has two seat configurations: 13-seater or 18-seater. Seats are wrapped in premium fabric. Meanwhile, the cargo hauling V80 Flex variant can carry a capacity of 1.1 tons in its spacious interior.

Maxus Philippines launched the V80, its second van catering to passenger- and cargo-hauling. AC Industrials, the brand’s exclusive distributor to the country, introduced two variants of the model in 2019. The Maxus V80 is the Chinese brand’s entry into the commercial vehicle automotive category. At launch, prices started at Php 1,190,000 for the Flex variant and Php 1,570,000 for the Comfort variant.

Maxus provides a design anchored in comfort and convenience for the V80 model. Both variants are designed much like commercial vans available in the market, with a bit of a nose that stands out among conventional van styling. They also come with sliding doors which makes ingress and egress of passengers or cargo more convenient. On the rear are dual swing-out doors to maximize cargo loading in both variants.

The Maxus V80 Comfort comes with halogen headlights, front and rear foglamps, electronically adjustable exterior mirrors, and an electric step board for comfortable boarding. It rides on 16-inch alloys. On the other hand, the V80 Flex variant rides on 16-inch steel wheels and comes with halogen headlights, rear foglamp, and adjustable exterior mirrors.

The passenger Comfort variant boasts of having more than enough space to move inside the vehicle. It has two seat configurations which are 13-seater and 18-seater. All seats are wrapped in premium fabric matching the whole cabin decked in neutral tones. The driver’s seat is equipped with an 8-way adjustability and the vehicle also comes with an additional feature such as the front and rear room lamp. Ventilation comes from a front and rear air-conditioning system.

Meanwhile, the Flex variant is decked with an interior specifically designed for cargo-hauling. It has a wide 6.9m3 with a payload capacity of 1.1 tons. The driver’s seat also comes with 8-way adjustability and is upholstered in premium fabric.

Technology & Safety Features

Safety features of the Maxus V80 are generally basic and practical with driver and front passenger airbags, anti-lock braking system, immobilizer, and electronic brake-force distribution. The Comfort variant comes with rear parking sensors.

Notwithstanding being a commercial vehicle, the V80 is equipped with a radio tuner with Aux-in, USB, and Bluetooth capabilities. The entertainment system sends audio to 4 speakers to make the trip more enjoyable.

Platform & Chassis

The commercial vehicles are equipped with McPherson suspension in front and independent parallel leaf spring on the rear. Stopping power comes from front ventilated discs and rear discs for both variants. It is also equipped with hydraulic power assisted steering.

Engine & Drivetrain

Both Maxus V80 variants are powered by a 2.5L 4-cylinder  turbo-diesel Common Rail Direct Injection engine. It can produce up to 134 hp and 330 Nm of torque, enough to transport its maximum weight capacities comfortably. This engine is able to perform with high efficiency at both high speed and low speed.
