It boasts exterior enhancements that give it a crossover look.

Volkswagen Philippines added a third model to its Santana range with the introduction of the Cross Santana.

Volkswagen Cross Santana

The new Volkswagen Cross Santana joins the Santana GTS wagon and Santana subcompact sedan. Based on the wagon model, the Cross Santana features exterior enhancements that give it more of a crossover appearance.

To do that, the German automaker fitted front, side, and rear skirts. It also sports overfenders, which are typically seen in crossover/SUV models as these give an off-road appeal. To finish the new look, the vehicle comes with blacked-out wheels and the Cross Santana badge.

Inside, the new model shares similar interior amenities as the Santana GTS. Providing entertainment on the go is a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The leather and fabric seats with red stitching, and sunroof also made their way into the crossover version.

The Volkswagen Cross Santana is powered by the same engine as its wagon and sedan siblings. This is the 1.5-liter inline-4 gasoline engine capable of generating 108 horsepower and 150 Nm of torque. Power is sent exclusively to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Included on the safety equipment list are driver, front passenger, and side airbags, Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP) with Brake Assist, Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) with Anti-Slip Regulation, and a rear parking distance control with a rear camera.

Volkswagen Philippines is offering the new Cross Santana with the 180 MPI AT variant only priced at Php 1,098,000. The Cross Santana also comes with a 3-year or 100,000 km warranty coverage program (whichever comes first), as well as a free one-year 24/7 Emergency Roadside Assistance (ERA).

The Cross Santana isn’t the only VW to come out this year. Recently, Volkswagen Philippines teased the arrival of a new model appearing to be the Tharu compact crossover. But as of this writing, the company has no word regarding the matter.
