Volkswagen Philippines is going big with its Blue Tag Sale promo as it offers up to 95 percent discount on select genuine accessories and lifestyle items including a child seat.
Volkswagen is offering a child seat with a massive discount
From February 16 to February 18, Volkswagen’s child seat will be available for Php 1,800 only from a whopping Php 33,421 SRP (suggested retail price). It can be your ticket to not only keep your children safe on the go but also conform to Metro Manila Traffic Code’s (MMTC) special laws.
Particularly, the child car seat law, or Republic Act No. 11229. The law requires children aged 12 years old and below, and stand 4’11” and below, to be seated on a child safety seat. It took effect last February 2021 in a bid to keep children safer in the event of a road accident.
A hefty fine awaits those who don't use a child car seat
Failure to comply carries a Php 1,000 fine for the first offense, a Php 2,000 fine for the second offense, and a Php 5,000 fine for the third and subsequent offenses.
Another related penalty is for the use of a substandard child restraint system (CRS). Child seats must secure from the Bureau of Product Standards (BPS) a Philippine Standards (PS) mark license or Import Clearance Certificate (ICC) license before distribution. This bears a Php 1,000 fine for the first offense, a Php 2,000 fine for the second offense, and a Php 5,000 fine for the third and subsequent offenses.
