Japanese automaker Honda unveiled the all-new HR-V last year with a sleeker design that made that model look a lot more modern. But in America, the US-spec all-new Honda HR-V is getting a different design that might look very familiar to those who have been keeping up with the brand.
US-spec 2023 Honda HR-V
That’s because the 2023 HR-V for the US market is based on the 11th-gen Honda Civic. The award-winning spirit of the compact sedan will be embodied in the US-spec HR-V.
“By gaining aspirational qualities beyond its segment, the 2023 Honda HR-V will welcome a new generation of customers to Honda and grow in importance as a gateway to the Honda brand,” said Honda Motor Co., Inc. Assistant Vice President of Automobile Sales, Michael Kistemaker.
The US-spec Honda HR-V features a bold new grille with a longer hood and sleeker roofline. It is given with a lower beltline that runs between the extended and the swell of the rear fenders. But unlike the initial model, the rear door handles are installed conventionally and not on the C-pillars.
The U.S. market will get a different HR-V
Inside, the visibility has been improved with the addition of a large greenhouse which is enhanced by door-mounted mirrors and the vehicle’s low cowl. Moreover, the windshield wipers tuck under the hood line when not in use.
As of this writing, Honda only revealed the design of the US-spec HR-V. This means that specifications such as the engine, safety and tech, and pricing should be disclosed days before the subcompact crossover’s official U.S. debut. With its new and youthful styling, Honda said that the HR-V is an ideal vehicle for first-time car buyers.
“This new HR-V will advance its position as the segment leader with young buyers, first-time buyers, and multicultural customers,” added Kistemaker.
It is unveiled with an athletic and youthful design
Honda has set the US-spec HR-V to be launched this summer. Locally, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) announced that its all-new subcompact crossover will be brought into the local lineup on April 19. But the version arriving on our shores is the one available in the ASEAN region.
