Toyota is celebrating the 35th anniversary of one of its most iconic nameplates in the brand’s history, the Supra. To celebrate the milestone, the Japanese automaker is introducing the GR Supra 35th Anniversary Special Edition which will soon be driving through the streets of Japan.
Toyota GR Supra 35th Anniversary Special Edition
Not to be confused with the first-gen Toyota Celica Supra in 1978, the Toyota Supra nameplate started to become a model of its own in 1986 after cutting ties with the Celica. Since then, the Japanese in-line six sports car has built a reputation in the automotive scene that is currently being strengthened by the latest GR Supra (MKV).
The Toyota GR Supra 35th Anniversary Edition will be available in two variants based on the model’s SZ-R and top-of-the-line RZ. Although no powertrain upgrades will be made, the GR Supra special edition will bear cosmetic upgrades to pay homage to the nameplate’s milestone.
"35th Anniversary" badge
Both variants will be added with 19-inch forged aluminum wheels in matte black and a carbon-fiber trim in the dashboard with the “35th Anniversary” badge.
However, only the SZ-R 35th Anniversary Edition will be equipped with sports brakes, matte black door mirrors, and a sports brake pedal. It can be finished with five color options, namely White Metallic, Prominence Red, Ice Gray Metallic, Lightning Yellow, and Black Metallic.
Toyota GR Supra RZ 35th Anniversary Special Edition
Meanwhile, the top-spec RZ offers genuine red leather seats and a wireless charger. It will be available in Matte Storm Gray Metallic only.
The SZ-R special edition is priced at 6,535,000 yen (around Php 2.98 million), while the RZ special edition will cost 7,835,000 yen (about Php 3.58 million). Toyota will roll out 35 units of each variant and has arranged a lottery system for lucky buyers. The automaker said that interested Japanese customers will have to apply online until August 31. The draw will be initiated on September 7, 2021.
