Toyota’s subcompact hatch receives a slight makeover.

Toyota’s subcompact hatchback has a new look in Indonesia as the automaker launched the Wigo GR Sport. Of note, the Wigo is marketed as the Agya in Indonesia.

The Wigo GR Sport looks similarly identical to the Wigo TRD S that is also available in the Philippine market. One of the most noticeable design changes is that the new model is integrated with GR Sport badges rather than TRD. This could mean that Toyota is planning on axing the TRD branding from its model lineup moving forward. A trend that Toyota Motor Philippines could also implement, especially with the Wigo since it’s one of the good performing models of the brand in the market in terms of sales.

Yes, you might argue that the Wigo GR Sport is essentially a rebadged version of the Wigo TRD S. But upon closer look at the images uploaded on Toyota Indonesia’s website, the new model comes with subtle differences on its exterior.

The Wigo gets a new front bumper design

The front end of the Toyota Wigo GR Sport comes with a blacked-out upper grille, and a restyled lower bumper. Turning at the side, the new version appears to be equipped with a rain guard or visor, while the doors now come with added trim. You’ll also notice that the side skirt looks different from the one that’s fitted on the current Wigo TRD S.

The rear also gets subtle design changes that make the Wigo GR Sport distinctive from the older model. It gets a sportier-looking spoiler as well as a revamped bumper that’s now integrated with a pseudo diffuser.

The interior has a carry-over design from the Wigo TRD S. It still has the same dashboard layout and features that are found on the version that’s currently available in the local market.

The Toyota Wigo GR Sport is powered by a 1.2-liter gasoline engine as compared to the locally available Wigo TRD S that has a 1.0-liter power unit. The Wigo GR Sport’s 1.2-liter engine can deliver 87 hp and 108 Nm of torque. The engine can be connected to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission.
