It is available in the higher trims only.

One feature that many find unsettling in the Toyota Corolla Altis is its infotainment system. It comes with ridiculously thick bezels and looks pretty much outdated. Being seated one size higher than the Toyota Vios subcompact sedan, many expected more from the Corolla Altis in terms of interior layout.

But fortunately, it seems like Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) addressed the issue as it replaced the infotainment system with a new and more modern-looking 8-inch head unit. In a report by CarGuidePH, the new touchscreen is available only to the higher-end trims, namely the 1.6 V and top-of-the-line 1.8 HEV.

The new infotainment screen comes with physical buttons and two rotary knobs which can be useful when controlling the system while driving. With the addition of the new touchscreen, one can say that it is more ideal than the outgoing head unit that uses all touchscreen controls. It also looks more appealing as compared to the old unit that features a lot of blank space.

The new 8-inch infotainment screen still gets Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Smart Device Link (SDL), and Miracast. Functions such as AM, FM, Bluetooth, and USB are available as well. Passengers can benefit from the standard 4-speaker system with two tweeters for entertainment on the go.

As for the lower 1.6 G and base 1.6 E trims, no changes are made in the infotainment system. Both are still equipped with a smaller 6.8-inch infotainment system with T-Link for Apple and Android. But on the bright side, this system offers more connectivity functions including AUX, CD, and DVD.

New tech, same car

TMP offers the Toyota Corolla Altis with the same price range despite the new infotainment system. The compact sedan comes with a price that ranges from Php 1,014,000 to Php 1,595,000. Buyers can add Php 15,000 to the 1.6 V and top-spec 1.8 V Hybrid to avail of the Platinum White Pearl Mica paint option.
