Earlier this year, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) announced that it will have a new vehicle logistics hub in Batangas, which intends to boost the local automotive industry. Now, TMP has inaugurated the said facility that shows the car brand’s confidence in the market.

Toyota Batangas Vehicle Center

Dubbed as Batangas Vehicle Center (BVC), Toyota Philippines said that the objective of its new Php 4.7-billion facility is to accommodate future volume requirement of the market. It also aims to ensure promised delivery time to customers to over 70 Toyota dealerships nationwide. The BVC is a 32-hectare facility that streamlines vehicle handling prior to inter-island transport.

Previously, TMP shared that BVC will house the car brand’s pre-delivery inspection, and post-production installation facility with a capacity of 160,000 units per year. TMP added that the pre-delivery inspection and processing has a daily capacity of over 600 units. It also comes with a stockyard that can accommodate up to 4,500 vehicles.

“This facility gives a stock capacity of 4,500 units on top off our existing stockyard in Santa Rosa [City, Laguna], bringing to an annual capacity of over 160,000 units,” said TMP president Atsuhiro Okamoto said.

Covered area for vehicle loading and unloading

The BVC also has 18 truck covered lanes for vehicle loading and unloading, a weather-proof structure that is designed to ensure a conducive and safe work area.

TMP chairman Alfred V. Ty said that the company was able to sustain the local production of the Vios, and the Innova despite the challenges brought upon by the pandemic. This, in turn, resulted in keeping the jobs of about 40,000 Filipinos. Ty further said that “motor vehicle sales and services was one of the key sectors that contributed to the 11.8 percent growth in gross domestic product (GDP) in the second quarter of this year.”

“This Batangas Vehicle Center is our renewed commitment to better days ahead. This is part of our joint efforts with the government, business sector and Filipino people to win the war against COVID-19 and build a better tomorrow, together,” said Ty.
