The Chery Tiggo 5X has joined the brand’s Pro series of models as it makes an appearance at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS).

Not only did the nameplate receive the Pro badge, but it's also a hybrid trim. With that being said, the subcompact crossover is able to reduce carbon emissions while looking more stylish than ever before.
The Chery Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid adopts the dot-matrix galaxy-like grille found in other Tiggo Pro models such as the Tiggo 2 Pro and Tiggo 7 Pro. Meanwhile, the rear end still looks familiar as only minor tweaks are integrated, with the taillights getting the most significant update.

As for the powertrain, the Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid replaces the traditional alternator with a Belt Starter Generator (BSG), which generates kinetic energy when braking. The energy is stored in a 48V battery and is used to assist the internal combustion engine (ICE) when needed.
Chery Auto Philippines claims that the BSG delivers an additional 10 horsepower and 40 Nm of torque.

In addition to the performance boost, Chery also added that the 48V hybrid system also cuts down carbon emissions by 14 percent, and improves fuel efficiency by 13 percent. The efficiency is further enhanced by a start-stop system, which shuts the engine off during traffic light stops and starts when the accelerator is used.
The new Tiggo 5X Pro receives improvements in performance and efficiency
The Chery Tiggo 5X Pro Hybrid isn’t the only electrified model the company brought to the MIAS. It is also displaying the Tiggo 8 Pro e+ Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) and Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid, with the latter coming with the same hybrid components as its new subcompact sibling.
“We are thrilled to showcase no less than three state-of-the-art Tiggo models that underscore Chery’s world-class technology, especially in the area of electrified mobility,” said Chery Auto Philippines President Erroll Dueñas.
Chery Auto Philippines has yet to disclose the specs and pricing of the two new hybrids. But you can check out the Chinese automaker’s booth at the MIAS at the World Trade Center in Pasay City until April 16, 2023.
