The new Vitara variant will still be sourced from Hungary as the current version.

We previously reported that the Suzuki Vitara AllGrip variant is on track to have its Philippine premiere on Friday, May 28. Now, more details are surfacing regarding the upcoming model, chief of which is the sticker price.

As reportedly confirmed by Suzuki Philippines (SPH), Carguide.ph says that the newest member of the local Vitara fold starts at a cool Php 1.458 million, representing an extra Php 300,000 over the GLX 1.6 AT currently at the top of the range. The pricing already puts it in the midsize SUV category (by way of comparison, the base Isuzu mu-X variant costs Php 1.35 million), with the Vitara’s all-wheel-drivetrain accounting for most of the hefty premium.

Suzuki Vitaras sold in the Philippines are made in Hungary

Further information of note is that the latest Vitara will still be sourced from Europe, specifically Magyar Suzuki’s plant in Esztergom, Hungary, which has been churning out the model’s current generation for global markets since 2015. Overseas versions are made with a range of engines (including diesel and hybrid variants) and three transmission options across two drive layouts.

Meanwhile, current Philippine-spec units of the subcompact crossover only offer a single powertrain option, comprising a 1.6-liter gasoline engine mated to a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters spinning the front wheels. The coming all-wheel-drive model adds a second drivetrain option to that lineup, paired with a ground clearance of 185mm.

Minor external elements distinguish the Vitara AllGrip against its front-driven siblings, from skid plates on both ends to chrome door handles accompanying side moldings, as well as a rear spoiler. The only major change so far to the interior is the addition of a clinometer to the 10-inch infotainment system, apart from AllGrip badging above the passenger side glovebox. Safety equipment remains the same including six airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic stability control, and hill start assist.

That badge alone is worth a hefty premium

Are you excited to see the Suzuki Vitara AllGrip in the metal? Or will the pricing limit your options to just the front-drive variant for now? If so, you can also check out the used Suzuki SUV for sale at affordable prices. The car is a good-value option with a 1.4-liter turbo engine and is fun and easy to drive.
