Thinking of driving home a brand-new Subaru? This might be the perfect time to do it as Motor Image Pilipinas, Inc. announced that it still has few stocks in its inventory that are not subjected to the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) safeguard duties.

Subaru PH said that its dealership network nationwide still have limited inventory that are not yet subjected to the DTI’s safeguard duties. Interested individuals are encouraged to take this opportunity to purchase a brand-new Subaru vehicle at its current prices without worrying about any additional payment or deposit in line with the implementation of Department Administrative Order (DAO) No. 20-11.
The car brand added that individuals can inquire, visit, or test drive a Subaru vehicle at their preferred dealership. Subaru PH is also offering cash discounts and promos that are currently offered on all its models. This includes the standard 5-year warranty for purchases of any new Subaru vehicle.

As a review, the DTI is imposing a provisional safeguard duty or tariff in the form of a cash bond amounting to Php 70,000 per unit for imported passenger cars and Php 110,000 per unit for imported light commercial vehicles.
The safeguard duties was deemed necessary to protect the local or domestic motor vehicle manufacturing industry. DTI Secretary Ramon Lopez previously said that the safeguard duties will ensure a level playing field for locally-manufactured vehicles.
The vehicles manufactured in the Philippines include the Mitsubishi Mirage G4, Mitsubishi L300, Toyota Vios, and Toyota Innova. The Nissan Almera is also part of the locally manufactured vehicles but the Japanese automaker decided to shut down its facility in Santa Rosa. The said plant closure was due to the expiration of the assembly contract between Nissan Philippines Inc., and Univation Motor Philippines, Inc.
On the other hand, several car brands have already announced their adjusted pricing in regards to the implementation of safeguard duties. The list includes Toyota, Honda, Geely, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, among others.
