Aimed to reduce traffic in Rizal, Cainta, and Marikina.

The formal opening of the Skyway Stage 3, which connects the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) was held on January 14. The Skyway Stage 3 is seen as a major boost in the economy after its collapse due to the pandemic.

President Rodrigo Duterte and San Miguel Corporation (SMC) president Ramon S. Ang led the ceremony to officially open all seven lanes of the Skyway Stage 3. With the completion of the new elevated toll road, it can significantly decongest major Metro Manila roads. The Skyway Stage 3 is said to accommodate 50 percent of the EDSA traffic or 200,000 vehicles per day.

Construction of the Pasig River Expressway (PAREX) project

“This is a game-changer for our economy, especially now that we are still dealing with the pandemic. By providing seamless access between north and south, we also unlock the true potential of our provinces,” shared SMC president Ramon S. Ang.

Ramon S. Ang said that they will continue to decongest the infamous traffic of Metro Manila by shifting their focus towards the completion of the Pasig River Expressway (PAREX) project. PAREX is a 19.4-kilometer, six-lane elevated expressway along the banks of the Pasig River.

Once PAREX is constructed, it is expected to decongest heavy traffic along Rizal, Cainta, and Marikina. PAREX will also provide alternative access to Makati, Ortigas, and Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. The expected completion of the PAREX project is by 2023.

Furthermore, the construction of the Manila International Airport project in Bulacan province has already started. The airport project consists of four-parallel runways and modern facilities, aimed to decongest air traffic in the country by 2025.

“All these, Mr. President, will solve our decades-long problem of land and air traffic congestion. Together, we are building the foundation for future economic growth that’s inclusive and sustainable,” said SMC president Ramon S. Ang.
