The arrival of the next-gen Ford Ranger Raptor could be around the corner after Ford Philippines dropped the current-generation model from its website.
Next-gen Ford Ranger Raptor
For a short recap, the new Ford Ranger Raptor made its debut earlier this year with a more rugged design and improved performance. It even already arrived in Thailand where Ford Philippines sources the truck. Now, to answer our questioning minds, we reached out to the company for a statement.
“Since its launch in the Philippines in 2018, the Ranger Raptor has become one of the country’s best-selling pickup trucks. Consumer demand has been consistently high over the past four years,” said Ford Philippines Director for Communications EJ Francisco.
“As of August 15, our Ford dealers nationwide have sold the remaining stocks of the current-generation Ranger Raptor. At Ford, we are always looking to bring products to the market based on customer demand,” he added.
The current-gen Ranger Raptor is no longer listed on the Ford Philippines website
Ford Philippines has not directly addressed the reason why the Ranger Raptor was dropped from the local lineup. But considering the high customer demand for the previous version, the company did not explicitly dismiss the possibility that it could eventually bring in the more performance-oriented version of the next-gen Ranger.
If the Blue Oval company does include the new Ranger Raptor in the local lineup, Filipinos can expect enhancements that separate it from the regular model. We’ll start with the powertrain, which in other markets comprises a new 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo gasoline engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Thanks to the larger engine, the performance-oriented midsize pickup can now make 392 horsepower and 583 Nm of torque. These are huge power bumps as compared to the outgoing model’s 2.0-liter bi-turbo diesel engine that has 210 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque.
It boasts refinements from the front to the back
The use of a Fox suspension system is still carried over to the next-gen model. But this time, the setup has been upgraded with the addition of Teflon-infused oil. As a result, the truck can provide better ride comfort without compromising its renowned off-road capability.
While those sound promising, Ford Philippines has not given any guarantees that the new Ranger Raptor will set its wheels on our roads anytime soon. In the meantime, the automaker is encouraging customers to check out the next-gen models of the Everest and Ranger.
“The next-generation Ford Ranger and Everest have officially been launched in the market. We would like to invite our customers and enthusiasts to check out our next-gen Ford vehicles via our website and in our Ford dealerships nationwide,” concluded Francisco.
We'll just have to wait and see what the next steps are for Ford Philippines regarding the new Ranger Raptor.
