PNR will soon have Manila to Bulacan route
DOTr Undersecretary for Railways Timothy John Batan shared that the PNR Clark North 1 project will have its train depot at Valenzuela. The trains from the Valenzuela depot will pass through Meycauayan, Marilao, Bocaue, Balagtas, Guiguinto, until it reaches Malolos.
The PNR Clark North 1 is a 38-kilometer railway that will have 10 stations. It will pass through the cities of Manila, Caloocan, and Valenzuela, connecting it to Bulacan. The said project is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency, and is expected to accommodate up to 300,000 passengers daily. More importantly, it will significantly reduce the travel time from Tutuban, Manila to Malolos, Bulacan to only 35 minutes.
DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade (middle) inspects the construction of PNR Clark North 1
DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade stated that the PNR Clark North 1 railway project is currently 46 percent complete. Tugade expects the whole stretch of the project to be completed by the second quarter of 2024.
“This is very historical dahil apat na beses na sinubukan ang paggawa nitong proyektong ito simula 1993, at ngayon ang kauna-unahan na mayroon tayong konstruksyon,” Tugade said.
(This is very historical because there have been four attempts at making this project since 1993, and only now did we begin construction.)
Tugade added that the construction of the PNR Clark North 1 has been pushing through despite the threat brought upon by the COVID-19 pandemic. He also noted that the training simulator for the train service will arrive in the country between September and October while the trains will arrive in December.
