The Philippine National Police (PNP) is starting this year with a boost as it received P576 million worth of sea and land mobile assets.
The PNP received new land and sea police units
According to the government agency, the newly-acquired vehicles will be used to bolster its patrolling operations for both land and sea environments. Additionally, the vehicles can be used to enhance its police presence within COVID-19 restricted areas, as well as support its “KASIMBAYANAN SAFE” campaign for peaceful national and local elections in May.
“The PNP is grateful to President Rodrigo R. Duterte and the national government for the gesture of genuine responsiveness to the operational needs of the PNP to perform our law enforcement and public safety mission. We can only reciprocate our gratitude through better police service to the people,” said PNP Chief Dionardo B. Carlos.

Included in the land mobile assets are 34 units of six-wheeled Isuzu utility trucks and 123 Toyota Hilux 4x2 patrol vehicles. Reliability is assured for the turned-over utility trucks as they are backed by Isuzu Philippines Corporation’s (IPC) excellence of earning the best-selling truck distributor in the country for 22 years in a row.
This is the same case with the patrol vehicles, as the Toyota Hilux remains a popular choice due to its dependability. In fact, the Japanese pickup truck was hailed as the second best-selling unit overall last year. With that being said, one can expect that the land operations of PNP will be strengthened.
These Toyota Hilux patrol units will also be used to ensure peaceful and orderly elections in May
Other assets received by the government agency include 10 police high-speed tactical watercraft, 170 low-band VHF tactical radio sets, and 1,628 handheld digital mobile radio transceivers. These acquisitions were funded by the PNP Capability Enhancement Program (CEP) for 2020 and 2021.
“Especially with more communication equipment available, we can now swiftly provide immediate rapid reaction to calls for police assistance and emergency response,” added Carlos.
