NLEX is going to be pretty busy this June

If you travel via North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) on a regular basis, then be aware that the NLEX Corporation will be temporarily closing several lanes of its toll plazas to make way for system enhancement. To this end, we can expect that the lines of motorists waiting to pass through the said toll plazas will be longer than usual.

NLEX Corp. is working on a lot of things in the coming months

Here is a list of the said toll plazas that will have closed lanes, and their respective dates of closure:

Toll Plaza w/ closed lanes

Date

Ciudad de Victoria Northbound Exit X03

June 1-2

Tambobong Northbound Exit X02

June 1-2

Sta Rita Northbound Exit X06

June 1-2

Pulilan Northbound Exit X02

June 3-4

Pulilan Southbound Exit X02

June 3-4

San Simon Southbound Exit X02

June 3-4

San Fernando Northbound Exit X02

June 3-4

Meycauayan Southbound Entry S04

June 5-6

Tabang Northbound Exit X07

June 5-6

Balagtas Northbound Exit X04

June 5-6

Sta Rita Southbound Exit X02

June 5-6

While NLEX Corporation didn’t say what the “enhancements” entails, do remember that the Radio-frequency identification (RFID) toll collection system still has hiccups namely the issue of the occasional failure to scan RFID stickers. With these updates, maybe the company can enhance the scanner’s ability to read RFID stickers thus providing a more seamless experience on NLEX.

Lastly, the Meycauayan Bridge’s Manila-bound lane in Bulacan will also be closed, and so a counterflow traffic scheme will be assumed on the northbound lane. This is scheduled to take place on the following date and time:

June 1, 10:00 p.m. to June 2, 4:00 a.m.

June 2, 10:00 p.m. to June 3, 4:00 a.m.

June 3, 10:00 p.m. to June 4, 4:00 a.m.

The closures for the said section of the bridge will allow for girder replacements.

Repairs on the Meycauayan Bridge is expected to be completed by September 2021

Coupled with the system enhancement and the road works, it looks like traveling on NLEX will be slower in June. Do note however that while these may affect your travel times temporarily, it will further enhance the tollway thus providing even more convenience for its users.
