NLEX Corporation continues its commitment to providing safe roads for motorists with the repair projects of two Pampanga bridges, namely the San Matias and Pasig-Potrero bridges.
Improvements on two NLEX bridges in Pampanga are ongoing
The NLEX San Matias bridge is an 80-meter road that is located between San Fernando and San Simon interchanges. Two link slabs that connect bridge deck spans are being replaced to improve safety. To keep the flow of traffic moving, Class 1 and 2 vehicles will be directed to a Bailey bridge, while a counterflow lane is open at the northbound carriageway to accommodate Class 3 vehicles.
On the other hand, the 720-meter SCTEX Pasig-Potrero bridge is a vital road that connects Subic and Clark. NLEX Corporation is installing sheet piles and gabions which are used to form a retaining wall to support the piers. As a result, the project will improve the bridge’s serviceability and structure.
NLEX Corporation prioritizes safety
The toll road company said that the San Matias bridge is expected to be accomplished within just one month, while the Pasig-Potrero bridge is slated to be completed within the second quarter of the year.
“Just like other bridges along the NLEX-SCTEX network, San Matias and Pasig-Potrero are essential in facilitating ease of travel and efficient delivery of commodities. We are doing the necessary repairs as part of our commitment to keep our assets in good condition and more importantly, provide motorists with a safe and smooth expressway experience,” said NLEX Corporation President and General Manager J. Luigi L. Bautista.
Another project NLEX Corporation is working on this year to improve its roads is the NLEX Candaba Viaduct Northbound (NB), which consists of the replacement of 13 priority link slabs. It is part of the toll road company’s 2022 expansion plans which ultimately aim to decongest traffic within its road network, as well as boost customer service.
