It is expected to be opened within Q1 2023.

NLEX Corporation announced that the first section of the NLEX Connector is now at 94 percent completion.

The first section is expected to be opened within Q1 2023

The first section of the project is a 5.15-km expressway that spans between the end of Segment 10 in C3 Road, Caloocan City and España Boulevard, Manila. It is connected to the 2.75-km second section, which runs between España and PUP (Polytechnic University of the Philippines), Sta. Mesa, Manila.

Part of the completion is the rehabilitation of the Magsaysay Boulevard in Sta. Mesa. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) aims to rework the existing east and west service roads and the Philippine National Railways (PNR) railroad crossing, relocate electric posts, and decommission the Magsaysay Flyover.

With it, motorists going to various areas like Manila City Hall, Quiapo Church, University Belt, Rizal Park, Intramuros, Cubao, Gilmore, and San Juan will enjoy faster and more convenient travel.

NLEX Connector project

The NLEX Connector’s first section is expected to be opened within the first quarter of this year. As for the second section, it is now at 29 percent completion. Upon the completion of the entirety of the project, the travel time between SLEX-Alabang and NLEX-Balintawak will be reduced from 1.5-2 hours to just 15-20 minutes.

NLEX Corp. also reported that the construction of the Candaba Third Viaduct is set to commence in Q3 2023 as part of its commitment to enhancing roads this year. It will expand the 5.0-km bridge from the existing three lanes without a shoulder lane to three leans with inner and outer shoulders per direction.

“We will invest in major expansion and enhancement projects that are vital to the country’s economic resurgence and, at the same time, ease the travel of the motoring public as we seek to support the government’s call for the private sector to take part in nation-building,” said NLEX Corporation President J. Luigi L. Bautista.
