With the introduction of the Nissan LEAF last May 2021, Nissan Philippines has been relentless in growing the electric vehicle (EV) market in the country. To do just that, the Japanese car brand is expanding its dealership network to reach more customers, as well as set charging stations in different parts of the country.
The Nissan LEAF is getting more known in the country
As of this writing, Nissan now has six EV dealerships in the country. These dealerships include in Makati, Otis Manila, Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig, Cebu, and Tagum and Matina in Mindanao. With that in mind, the Nissan LEAF is now available nationwide.
Nissan Philippines is also rolling out efforts to educate the community regarding the benefits of driving an EV. In a video presentation during the annual EV industry, the brand shared its nationwide reach for its electrification strategy. Moreover, the presentation noted that Cebu City is the backdrop to discuss its vision for sustainability.
“Now that the Nissan LEAF is here, the next phase of our electrification plans for the country involves continuously educating the public about the benefits of EVs, while making the Nissan LEAF accessible to more parts of the country through our Nissan EV dealerships,” said Nissan Philippines President and Managing Director Atsushi Najima.
A vehicle that will shape the way we see mobility
Under the electrification strategy, Nissan is looking for potential partners to amplify its goal of creating a sustainable and resilient society. The possible collaboration with the government and private sector is seen as the brand’s next step to make its vision come to life.
“We are not just offering our customers a zero-emissions vehicle with the Nissan LEAF, and a nationwide EV charging network through our EV dealerships. We are looking at building a network of partners here in the Philippines for sustainability and resilience, unlocking the potential for EV technology to address social concerns,” concluded Najima.
Price starts at Php 2,789,000
The Nissan LEAF is a 5-door hatchback that is designed with an all-electric powertrain. It boasts a 311-km range, which should be more than enough for the daily commute of Filipino drivers. Charging takes approximately 18.5 hours for a full battery charge, while only 7.5 hours of charging time are required when the optional Wall Box Charger is used.
