The teaser images bear a cryptic clue.

The facelifted Nissan Terra made its debut in the Middle East last year bearing the name X-Terra. It features a revamped front end that looks more assertive, confident, and sleeker as compared to the outgoing model.

Now, reports state that the facelifted Nissan Terra is about to make its debut in Thailand this week, August 19. The Thai-spec 2021 Nissan Terra is said to be powered by a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder Twin-Turbo Intercooler diesel engine that can generate 190 hp and 450 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a 7-speed automatic transmission while utilizing a 4WD system.

With the Thailand debut coming up, it’s only a matter of time before Nissan Philippines officially launch the facelifted Terra. In fact, Nissan PH already has teaser materials for the new Terra on its website, and Facebook page. Interested individuals may also register to be among the first to test drive Nissan’s new seven-seater midsize SUV.

The shadowy image uploaded on Nissan PH’s website gives a hint of the soon-to-be-launched facelifted Terra. But, will Nissan continue to use Terra as the model name of its midsize SUV? Or will it use X-Terra as the model name to market the facelifted version? Well, there’s a possibility that Nissan PH will use the latter, which is the X-Terra.

Why so? If you look at its website, you’ll notice that Nissan PH is using the term Family SUV as part of the copy or text, which we find a bit odd. Yes, that could be considered as a marketing strategy and a more creative way of teasing the upcoming facelifted Nissan Terra. But, things start to get interesting when you look closely into the teaser photos uploaded at Nissan PH’s website.

Set your device's brightness to max, and look closely

At first, we thought that it’s simply just a bunch of shadowy teaser photos that attempt to hide details that most of you probably already know. So, we decided to play around with the images such as increasing the brightness and using other photo editing tools. When you look closely, you’ll notice that the teaser photos come with an X-Terra nameplate, which could suggest that Nissan Philippines might market the facelifted Terra with the said model name. On the other hand, the upcoming facelifted Terra will still bear the old Nissan logo based on the teaser videos uploaded on the car brand’s Facebook page.

Look at the plate number area

However, nothing is official as of this writing, and Nissan PH has yet to announce the exact launch date of the facelifted Terra. But, do you prefer that Nissan PH markets the facelifted Terra as X-Terra? Or do you want Nissan to just continue using the Terra model name here in the local market?

The facelifted Nissan Terra made its debut in the Middle East last year bearing the name X-Terra. It features a revamped front end that looks more assertive, confident, and sleeker as compared to the outgoing model.

The Nissan X-Terra is fitted with a new headlight design that resembles the one seen in the new Navara. The grille also gets a restyled look that’s now highlighted by Nissan’s signature V-Motion design. Not to mention, the X-Terra is equipped with a beefier skid plate that adds a muscular look to the midsize SUVs’ front end.

The Nissan Terra gets a new set of taillights

The X-Terra that debuted in the Middle East gets a new set of 18-inch wheels as well as a resulted bumper, and a new taillight design. The interior also gets a makeover as it now has a new dashboard layout that looks cleaner, and more pleasing to the eye. You’ll also notice that the steering wheel now comes with a more modern finish.

The facelifted Nissan Terra comes with a revamped interior

Under the hood, the Middle East-spec Nissan X-Terra is powered by a 2.5-liter gasoline engine that delivers 165 hp and 241 Nm of torque. The said engine is the sole power unit option for the said market, and the X-Terra is only available with a seven-speed automatic. Again, the said powertrain details are for the Middle East market.
