When the 2021 Nissan Terra facelift made its global debut in the Middle East last year, Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand and the Philippines began asking about its arrival in their respective markets. After all, the Nissan Terra has made quite an impact in the region as a rugged and massive 7-seater midsize SUV.
The facelifted 2021 Nissan Terra
Now, the facelifted version of the SUV is slated to officially debut in Thailand on August 19, 2021. With its design changes, it should bring thunder to the midsize SUV segment.
New to the 2021 Nissan Terra is a sleeker-looking front fascia, thanks to its larger V-Motion grille and updated headlights. Each headlamp features a two-tiered design with lighting elements that Nissan calls Ice Cubes. Not a lot of changes have been made on the sides and the rear of the new model.
The Nissan Terra's revamped interior layout
Inside, Nissan wants to highlight the midsize SUV’s large proportions by fitting a redesigned full-width horizontal dashboard. It can host either a new 9-inch infotainment screen for the flagship variant or an 8-inch for the lower-end variants.
Some of the safety features for the facelifted version include six airbags, Auto Stability Control, Hill Start Assist System (HSA), Blind Spot Warning System, 360-degree Surround View Camera System (AVM), Forward Collision Warning System, Intelligent Cruise Control, and Intelligent Emergency Braking.
The Nissan Terra facelift is coming to the ASEAN region
Under the hood, the Thai-spec 2021 Nissan Terra is likely to be powered by a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder Twin-Turbo Intercooler diesel engine that can generate 190 hp and 450 Nm of torque. The engine is paired to a 7-speed automatic transmission, while utilizing a 4WD system.
More specifications will be rolled out days before the new Nissan Terra’s arrival in Thailand. Meanwhile, the Nissan Philippines hasn’t put out any word on whether it will bring in the facelifted version or not. But considering that it will be available in the Land of Smiles soon, our market is expected to follow.
