Nothing’s holding Nissan back now.

Nissan Philippines was busy updating its model lineup last year with the launching of the new Almera, Terra, and Navara, as well as the introduction of the LEAF. For this year, the Japanese automaker will be occupied with growing its electrification plans in the country through the Blue Switch campaign.

The campaign was built on the Nissan Ambition 2030, the company’s long-term vision for a future of sustainable mobility. Nissan already invested around one trillion yen (around P444-billion) to jumpstart the ambition. Locally, the Blue Switch campaign will be responsible for growing the brand’s electrification plans.

“The year 2021 was a tough time for the entire industry, but despite the challenges we faced, we’re grateful that Filipinos continue to trust Nissan with their mobility needs. This has inspired us to continue our mission of enriching the lives of people with our innovative vehicles and top-notch customer service,” said Nissan Philippines President and Managing Director Atsushi Najima.

Under the Blue Switch campaign, Nissan Philippines will be looking to build key partnerships with the government and stakeholders to promote the advantages of driving an electric vehicle (EV). During the virtual launch of the said campaign, representatives from the Electric Vehicle Owners Society (EVAP) and government including Senator Sherwin Gatchalian show their support for the brand’s electrification plans.

Gatchalian also stated that the EV bill is expected to be signed by President Rodrigo Duterte soon. If the bill is officially signed into law, the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act (EVIDA) will accelerate the development, commercialization, and utilization of EVs.

Some of the advantages of driving an EV include eco-friendly benefits, extended range, and providing power during emergency responses, which was recently displayed during Typhoon Odette. The automaker’s EV offering, the Nissan LEAF, will help pioneer its ambitions for a more sustainable future in the country starting with the Blue Switch campaign.

“When we integrate EV technology into society, we can unify people, systems, and our goals as a nation. EVs can boost tourism, protect the environment, help us respond to emergencies faster, and help enrich the lives of many people. We are looking to turn this dream into reality this 2022 and we can do this by working together,” concluded Najima.
