Nissan Philippines wants to remind everyone of the beauty and importance of nature this holiday season. The car brand intends to do that by serenading you this Christmas featuring two leaf musicians.

The two leaf musicians, accompanied by a musical ensemble, performed popular Christmas carols Silent Night, and Deck the Halls, which are tunes that most people are surely familiar with. The performance was filmed in the Rajah Sikatuna Protected Landscape in Bohol, which is considered one of the country’s largest natural rainforests.

Popularized by Philippine National Artist for Music Levi Celerio, a leaf musician uses a single leaf to produce music by blowing it through his or her lips. Nissan PH added that the special performance symbolizes its commitment to creating a sustainable future for everyone.

“As we celebrate the holidays with our loved ones, it is also important for us to be reminded of the beauty of nature and why we need to safeguard it,” says Nissan Philippines President and Managing Director Atsushi Najima. “May this performance be an inspiration for everyone to start their own journey towards sustainability,” he adds.

Aside from playing Christmas carols in the midst of endangered native trees, Nissan PH further showed its commitment to creating a sustainable future by utilizing the LEAF electric vehicle in helping individuals affected by typhoon Odette in Cebu.

Cebu is among the places that saw the destructive power of the typhoon, causing power outages in many different areas. The power outages caused individuals living in the affected communities to have no means of communication since their mobile phones have already run out of battery.

As such, Nissan PH deployed its Power Mover vehicle-to-load accessory in Cebu to utilize the Nissan LEAF electric vehicle (EV) as a mobile energy source to supply power in areas where there is no electricity.

Through its coordination with Nissan Cebu South dealership, and Cebu City Councilor Nestor Archival, Nissan PH said that the LEAF was used as a mobile phone charging station. This allowed individuals to fully charge their mobile phones in order to communicate with their families and loved ones.
