Kia has been busy going through changes not only for its new branding, but for its model lineup as well. One of the vehicles that the Korean carmaker is currently working on is the Sportage. In fact, there are already leaked images of what seems to be the next-gen Sportage in camouflage and it looks more exquisite than ever before.
Next-gen Kia Sportage in camouflage
The next-gen Sportage, nicknamed NQ5, is one of the longest-running nameplates of Kia. The Sportage was first introduced in 1993.
Based on the looks of the camouflaged Kia Sportage, there should be major changes in almost all areas of the model. The front fascia could get a new headlight design which should now combine all of the lighting systems in one housing such as the daytime running light (DRL), fog lights, and headlamps.
A whole new Kia Sportage is expected to be seen
The brand’s signature tiger-nose grille appears to have a new design. As for the rear, the taillights are redesigned to sport a sleeker look as compared to the outgoing model. The full-width design is replaced with a sharper character line that connects both the taillights.
Inside, the video featuring a camouflaged Sportage suggests that the vehicle could have a new door handle, panoramic sunroof, and beige door trims made of leather. Kia also added brackets on the rear part of the front passenger’s headrest so second-row passengers can hang their items.

We can also see that the new Kia logo is embedded on the next-gen Sportage, indicating that the carmaker’s new and bolder branding is adopted on the model. The new NQ5 will be sharing the same platform as the new Hyundai Tucson so we could see plenty of similarities between the two said models.
Reports state that the 2022 Kia Sportage is expected to debut by July 2021. In some markets, the NQ5 will reportedly be available in either a short wheelbase or a long wheelbase. Kia should release more details regarding the updates done on the Sportage before its official release date.
