It’s a sportier and more dynamic family car.

Subaru has finally taken the covers off its awaited 2021 Subaru Levorg mid-size station wagon, ahead of its October launch. Already on its second generation, the Levorg is shaping up to be a formidable upgrade over its predecessor, encompassing design, interior amenities, performance, and especially technology.

The new Levorg looks sportier and more aggressive than ever

The new Subaru Levorg adopts a bolder design that gives it more dynamic and aggressive styling. A new character line emanates from the front grille and transitions smoothly into the car’s shoulder, with sharper and more defined creases. Compared to the outgoing model, the 2021 Levorg wears more angular wheel arches coupled with a rising beltline, exuding a crossover vibe. Subaru has redesigned the LED headlamps to be more compact but no less powerful in low-light conditions. Even the wraparound LED tail lamps are more streamlined, consistent with its sportier look.

A new digital cockpit is the star of the cabin

The interior changes are just as dramatic, if not more so, with up to five occupants surrounded in premium materials. Front seats have been revised to better accommodate the contours of their occupants, resulting in less fatigue even over long distances.

There’s more than ample space behind the rear seats, with a cargo bay that’s 1,070 mm long, 1602 mm wide, and 771 mm high. The leather flat-bottomed steering wheel lies in the thick of a digital cockpit that features a high-definition 12.3-inch full LCD instrument panel, as well as a vertical 11.6-inch center display featuring Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and navigation capabilities.

The 2021 Subaru Levorg

A newly-developed 1.8L Subaru Boxer engine with direct injection turbo propels the new Levorg with 197 hp and 300 Nm of torque at a low 1500 rpm. Subaru touts its lean-burn technology that improves engine efficiency, mated to a redesigned Lineartronic CVT with 8-speed manual mode, and working in concert with its trademark Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.

The 2021 Subaru Levorg rides on a new global platform that offers increased rigidity while reducing weight with a revised suspension that improves handling while cutting down on road noise.

Up to five occupants can look forward to less stressful drives

Where the new model really shines is in terms of safety. The next-generation EyeSight driver-assist system uses a newly-developed stereo camera with a wide-angle lens, accompanied by 360-degree monitoring that combines the front and rear radar arrays. An even more advanced technology which Subaru calls “EyeSight X” combines high-precision 3D map data garnered from the Michibiki orbiting satellite with real-time road information.

The hands-off assist function allows drivers to let go of the steering wheel under heavy traffic to reduce strain, while the Subaru Starlink connected service allows drivers to call for assistance with just a touch of a button.

Fancy having the next-generation Levorg on Philippine roads?

No pricing details have been disclosed as of this writing. If you’re already a fan of the first-generation Levorg, the new model is bound to whip up your excitement even more.
