The reveal date has been moved to May 31.

DeLorean Motor Company is amping up the launch of the all-new EVolved up with a new teaser that shows a full-width lightbar at the rear end. It follows the first teaser video which shows that the upcoming vehicle will be utilizing gullwing doors, just like the iconic coupe that was featured in the ‘Back To The Future’ franchise.

New DeLorean EVolved teaser video

As a short recap, the American automaker announced that it will revive the DMC DeLorean (DMC-12) for the 21st century. But this time, the coupe will likely be powered by an electrified powertrain in response to the car industry’s shift towards a more sustainable future.

The new full-width LED lightbar is expected to replace the pixel-like rear-end lighting used by the 1980s-era model. This design element is found on the sole of the DeLorean Nike Dunk sneaker released in 2010. It seems like the new design will follow the trend of today’s new cars including the ones on the Porsche 911 992, Kia EV6, and Alfa Romeo Tonale.

Also included in the new teaser are the window blinds and the illuminated ‘DELOREAN’ text. The blinds pay homage to the DMC-12, adding a retro touch to the rear profile, while the illuminated ‘DELOREAN’ lettering further enhances the futuristic appeal of the vehicle.

That's one striking lightbar

Apart from the said features, DeLorean remains mum about the specs we can expect to see, including the powertrain. But as mentioned earlier, the EVolved will likely move away from the internal combustion engine (ICE) its predecessor used, which had a Peugeot-Renault-Volvo-sourced V6 power unit good for 130 horsepower and 207 Nm of torque.

Interested individuals don’t have to wait for a long time to witness the all-new EVolved as DeLorean moved up the reveal date from August 18 to May 31, 2022. Before revealing the 2023 DeLorean, the company will unveil the 1990, 2000, and 2010 versions of its coupe to showcase the nameplate’s 40-year history.
