DeLorean-inspired sneaker

1. McLaren x ASICS
The McLaren Racing Team linked up with ASICS in the early 90s to produce not a race car sneaker, but tailored for pit crews. As a result, two pairs were released, namely the GEL McLaren MA-2 and GEL McLaren F1.

Both the sneakers born from the collaboration were designed with the team’s color scheme which consists of white and red. To make the sneakers track-ready, they come with a non-slip black outsole which is important in conducting a fast pit stop time.
2. Wave Tenjin 2
The Lamborghini Aventador will perhaps go down as one of the most iconic sports cars of the Italian automaker. To illustrate its legacy, Japanese sports brand Mizuno connected with Lamborghini to create the Aventador-inspired Wave Tenjin 2.

Since the sneaker’s aesthetics is based on the V12 sports car, the Wave Tenjin 2 is developed with hexagonal design details. It is also featuring a carbon fiber-like appeal just like the Italian sports car which is adopted to save weight.
3. DeLorean Nike Dunk
Considering how big the ”‘Back to the Future” franchise has become, it is not a surprise that many know the movie’s time-traveling DeLorean DMC-12. It is so popular that Nike released a DMC-12-inspired sneaker in 2010.

To showcase the collaboration, the sneaker comes with a Belfast stamp on the tongue which indicates the vehicle’s birth factory in Dunmurry, Belfast. The DeLorean DMC-12’s gullwing is interpreted on the shoe’s bottom eyestay, while the sole reflects the sports car’s taillight design.
4. Nike Kobe Aston Martin Pack
Remember the Hyperdunk commercial where the Kobe Bryant jumped over an Aston Martin? That was actually filmed to promote the sneaker collaboration between the two concerned parties.

The Nike Kobe Aston Martin Pack comes with a gunmetal gray just like the paint of the Aston Martin DB9, as well as touches of Burgundy that are taken from the sports car’s interior. Reports suggest that only 500 pairs were released.
5. Air Jordan XVII
When Michael Jordan played for the Washington Wizards, he and his team released a sneaker that was said to be inspired by an Aston Martin. The aesthetics of the design language of the British automaker is blended in the upper portions of the Air Jordan XVIII.

6. Nike Lebron 11 Elite
Aside from Michael Jordan, Los Angeles Lakers Forward LeBron James also got a sneaker inspired by a sports car. But it is not just a sports car, it is a limited model that was released in celebration of the Italian automaker’s 50th anniversary. The vehicle we’re talking about is the Lamborghini Egoista.

With the bright colorway of the Egoista, the Nike LeBron 11 Elite received a flashy visual that is fitting for a basketball shoe. The orange trims on the wheels, front air ducts, and glass for the one-seat cockpit have been integrated into the sneaker, as well as the gray base color.
7. FILA Ferrari F2002
When Michael Schumacher was building his resume to become the greatest F1 driver of all time, FILA marked the driver’s remarkable run with the Ferrari F2002-inspired sneaker. The FILA Ferrari F2002 exudes speed and sophistication just like the F1 car.

Fast forward to more recent times, Ferrari still works with footwear companies to release sports car-inspired sneakers. This time, the Scuderia chose PUMA, through their long-time partnership, to stitch the ION Speed which is inspired by the SF90.

Just like the Italian F1 car, the PUMA sneaker is designed with high-performance materials which include a minimalist and lightweight construction. It is available in four colorway options, namely the PUMA Black, Rosso Corsa, PUMA White, and Saffron-PUMA.
9. Sonra “Porsche Design Edition”
Sonra designer and CEO Hikmet Sugör only dreamed of owning a Porsche 912. But thanks to his drive to grow his shoe business, he got linked up with Porsche Design to create the Sonra “Porsche Design Edition.”

Sold as a limited-edition leather sneaker, the Sonra “Porsche Design Edition” reflects the Porsche Design DNA with its purist design and use of high-quality materials. Porsche Design also made a version of the sneaker in ‘signal red’ as a direct reference to the color of Hikmet’s Porsche 912.
10. DC Shoes Volcano SRT
Considering that American company DC Shoes was the sponsor of the Subaru Rally Team USA, we all knew that a sneaker was coming. The product released was the DC Shoes Volcano SRT which was inspired by the rally team’s 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STI.

The DC Shoes Volcano SRT is designed with a blue base color just like the Subaru brand, with yellow accents on the sole, shoelace, and DC logo. On the side, the “Subaru Rally Team USA” has been added as well to commemorate the sponsorship.
