Mitsubishi’s high-performance and motorsports division, Ralliart, is coming to the Philippines. In fact, the Japanese marque will be releasing two models under the said sub-brand at the upcoming 2022 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).
Mitsubishi is yet to reveal the exact models that will debut. As per the teaser video though, it appears that these are new variants for the Montero Sport and the Strada.
A comment on the said video further added that the upcoming Ralliart models are the Montero Sport Ralliart 4x4 and the Strada Ralliart 4x4. These two are speculated to come with Ralliart decals, and black-colored exterior trim pieces.
Do take the statement above with a grain of salt as these are yet to be confirmed by Mitsubishi Philippines. Further information about the vehicles to be launched or displayed by Mitsubishi PH at PIMS is yet to be released.
The Thai-spec Montero Sport Ralliart that debuted last year
If we had to speculate, we think that these will be similar to the Ralliart Mitsubishi models that were released in Thailand in 2021. In this case, these variants received front and rear garnishes, a black tailgate spoiler, mud flaps with a Ralliart logo, among other cosmetic changes. The Thai-spec Ralliart models were also mechanically identical to their non-Ralliart versions.
In another Ralliart report that we also released last year, it was also discussed that the Ralliart revival plan will penetrate the ASEAN market. Mitsubishi will go about this move by producing Ralliart versions of existing models.
This was shown via a slideshow displaying the silhouettes of several vehicles. Among these are the Montero Sport and Strada. Also included is the Xpander that might see a local release in the near future as well.
The planned Ralliart lineup
For old-school fans of Mitsubishi, do you think that the direction they're going with Ralliart’s revival makes sense? Or do you think they should have come up with more? A sportier Strada to match the Toyota Hilux GR-S and Ford Ranger Wildtrak Biturbo maybe?
But if you’re itching to learn more about these upcoming Ralliart variants, you can see them in the metal at the 2022 PIMS on September 15 to 18, 2022 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.
