Auto Nation Group Inc., authorized distributor of Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the Philippines, announced that it will be bringing in the new E-Class as its first offering in the market for 2022. The unveiling will happen via an online media launch, which takes place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 2.

The E-Class is touted as the best-selling model in the German automaker’s history, with over 14 million Saloon and Estate models handed over to customers since 1946. Currently in its tenth generation, it brings a host of enhancements in terms of design, amenities, and onboard tech for its overseas markets.
Chief among these changes is the design, with the entry-level variant bearing the Avantgarde Line exterior which showcases a central star at the front for the first time. The fascia has been revised with more chrome and high-gloss black trim on the front bumper. An all-LED headlamp array is standard, with an Ultra Range high beam mode offered as an option.
The overseas version of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class sports a revised fascia
The rear has also been updated, featuring split-type LED tail lamps above a reworked bumper and trunk lid. Now included in the wheel lineup are aero-designed alloys, which Mercedes-Benz says contribute to fuel efficiency and sustainability.
New materials can be found in the interior, including wood trim, brushed aluminum, and aluminum with carbon grain. There are ample accommodations for five occupants, with the driver’s seat featuring adaptive adjustment that automatically positions according to the user’s height.
The dual-screen display is available in two sizes
Part of the model’s update is a new steering wheel featured in a variety of finishes such as all-leather, wood-leather combination, and a supersport version. The new E-Class comes standard with the latest generation of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) multimedia system, comprising a pair of 10.25-inch or 12.3-inch screens for both the instrument cluster and infotainment system. Augmented reality technology makes its way to the onboard navigation system.
The updated E-Class comes with the latest generation of safety systems from Mercedes-Benz, such as Active Brake Assist, Active Stop-and-Go Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, and Active Park Assist with 360-degree camera array. Hands-off recognition software senses when the driver is not holding the steering wheel, prompting the car to act accordingly through audible warnings and engaging Emergency Brake Assist when there is still no human input.
A selection of standard and electrified powertrains are available on the new E-Class
A range of gasoline and diesel powertrains are available. This includes the 3.0-liter M 256 inline-six turbocharged engine offered for the first time in the new E-Class, offered in both standard combustion and 48-volt mild-hybrid versions. The latter generates a total output of 408 horsepower and over 500 Nm of torque.
Final details, including pricing, should be available when the model is finally launched here next month. Which of the features available on the overseas release would you like to see on the Philippine-spec 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?
