Employees have undergone swab testing.

The country has been experiencing some of the worst COVID-19 cases since the pandemic first broke out last March 2020 due to the highly transmissible Omicron variant. That said, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) had to make a few adjustments in its operations to keep its employees and the motoring public safe.

LTO Central Office

Since January 7, the government agency has closed its Central Office in East Avenue, Quezon City. Measures such as swab testing of employees and disinfection of facilities were conducted to ensure safety within its operations. Additionally, here are six other offices that were temporarily closed due to the rising number of LTO employees with COVID-19:

  1. NCR East
  2. Diliman District Office
  3. Quezon City Licensing Office (QCLC)
  4. Quezon City Licensing Renewal Office (QCLRC)
  5. North Motor Vehicle Inspection Center (NMVIC)
  6. Public Utility Vehicle Registration Center (PUVRC)

It is still unclear as to when the LTO will resume operations for the said offices. But one thing is for sure, LTO is prioritizing the health and safety of everyone amid the fast-growing COVID-19 cases in the country. The government agency stated that it will continue to disinfect its offices to keep its operations safe at all times.

Be advised

Considering that select offices are temporarily closed, LTO assured the motoring public that validity extensions were made. For plate numbers ending in “1,” LTO extended their motor vehicle registration validity until February 28, 2022. They are advised to start renewing their car registration this January to avoid last-minute hassles.

Validity of LTO licenses including Student Permit, Driver’s License, and Conductor’s License was given extensions. A two-month validity extension was granted to licenses expiring from January to March 2022. To avoid convenience, the government agency also extended the validity of Medical Certificates so motorists won’t have to visit their preferred LTO-accredited medical clinic to get retested.
