The agency has extended the validity yet again.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has been constantly altering motor vehicle registration validity for the convenience of the motoring public. When the COVID-19 first struck the country in March 2020, the operations of the government agency had to temporarily cease which led to extensions after extensions.

Car registration extension has been enacted

For plate numbers ending in “1,” LTO extended their registration validity until February 28, 2022. The quarantine restrictions in the country have relaxed coming into 2022 so motorists shouldn’t have an excuse not to attend the set registration schedules. LTO said that plate numbers ending in 1 are due for renewal in January next year

Meanwhile, for plate numbers ending in “0,” LTO decided to extend the motor vehicle registration in select regions only. These regions are as follows: Region 4B, Region 5, Region 6, Region 7, Region 8, Region 10, and CARAGA. To note, the extended validity was slated for January 31, 2021.

As of this writing, LTO hasn’t discussed its extension plans for plate numbers ending in 2 and above just yet. But considering how the government agency has been handling the COVID-19 situation from the get-go, motorists should get updated ahead of time.

LTO has been hands-on with the extensions

LTO also decided to extend the validity of Student Permit (SP), Driver’s License (DL), Conductor’s License (CL), and medical certificates with expiration dated last October 2021. They have been extended until February 28, which is the same date for the driver’s license validity extension for those that experienced this December 2021. As for licenses that expired in November, the extension remains the same until January 31 next year.

As promised, the LTO has widened the availability of the 10-year driver’s license validity before the year ends. Filipino motorists who will avail of the 10-year validity will have to take the Comprehensive Driver’s Education (CDE) which aims to educate drivers with the proper road regulations in the country.
