Expect more by the end of the year.

As said in our previous report, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) is aiming to roll out the 10-year driver’s license validity in all of its branches before the end of the year. The government agency is steadily expanding the reach of the extended validity for the convenience of Filipino motorists.

The latest areas to be granted the 10-year driver’s license validity include Region I, Region II, Region III, Region IV-A, and Region V. Considering that Luzon is the most populous island of the Philippines, this will help the LTO to fulfill its set deadline of making the extended validity nationwide by December easier.

With the 10-year driver’s license validity, Filipino motorists ideally won’t have to frequently visit their preferred LTO branches that can be quite a hassle for some. Moreover, this initiative can lessen the number of motorists in the government’s daily operations, resulting in faster and more efficient transactions.

For those who are planning to renew their driver’s licenses, the LTO is requiring them to take the Comprehensive Driver’s Education (CDE). It consists of educational materials that aim to freshen up motorists regarding the proper road regulations. An exam with 25 questions will be given where motorists must get at least 13 correct answers to pass.

The CDE is available for free at LTO’s online portal. Also, the government agency is offering the road course through its Driver’s Education Centers for those who prefer face-to-face learning. Take note, motorists without a violation are the only ones who can avail of the 10-year driver’s license validity.

More Filipino motorists can now avail of the extended validity

Without a doubt, the extended validity can be handy for Filipino motorists. However, health experts say that a lot of health conditions can occur in between the said time frame so periodic medical exams must be a requirement. All these are being considered to make Philippine roads safer, as well as make driving more convenient.
