It has been a year since the Land Rover Defender re-entered the country. And now, Land Rover Philippines is celebrating the SUV’s 200th unit release. Initially, only the 5-door Defender 110 was offered by the British car brand. The range is later expanded with the introduction of the 3-door Defender 90 last July 2021.
Land Rover celebrates the Defender's milestone
The 200th unit release is further solidified as the PH-spec all-new Defender is hailed as the leader in regional sales. Land Rover Philippines President Chris Ward credited the model’s success to the market’s fondness for the Land Rover and for everything adventure.
“Launching the vehicle head-on with the COVID-19 situation, we were unsure of how the Defender line would initially take off. Not surprisingly, it was very well received in the Philippines market. The amount of support of its enthusiasts for the brand was tremendous,” said Land Rover Philippines President Chris Ward.
Accomplished amid the global health crisis
Coming with a boxy-type body, the Land Rover Defender flaunts an off-road appearance that enriches that brand’s ‘spirit of adventure’ characteristic. Thanks to the introduction of the Defender 90, Filipino car buyers now have the option to choose which Defender better suits their lifestyle.
Despite its rugged nature, the Land Rover Defender is still integrated with luxury which is more prominent in the cabin. It can be equipped with Windsor leather seats, 14-way heated and cooled electric front seats, and a 10-inch Pivi Pro infotainment system with 6-speaker Meridian Sound System plus subwoofer.
This shows the love of Filipinos for the SUV
Under the hood, Land Rover Philippines added the D240 turbocharged diesel engine to the power unit choices last Q4 2020 for those who want a more sturdy performance. It is capable of generating 237 hp and 430 Nm of torque. A 3.0-liter 6-cylinder turbocharged gasoline is also available as an option.
“Customers rushed to reserve their unit instantly after the reveal. The Philippines’ following for the vehicle keeps on growing as we see more drivers find the love for everything adventure – and that is what the Defender brand stands for,” added Ward.
One capable off-roader
Coventry Motors Corporation (CMC), Land Rover’s Philippine distributor, is offering both the Defender 90 and 110 with four Accessory Packs, namely the Urban, Country, Adventure, and Explorer. Interested individuals may further improve the SUV’s sales by first paying a visit to Land Rover outlets in either EDSA Greenhills or BGC Boutique Showroom.
