It wasn’t confirmed outright, more like coyly hinted at.

As most of you are already aware of, various car brands, even luxury ones, are working on electrifying many of their models. The latest one to provide a hint that it will do this is Lamborghini. Specifically, the Italian marque tiptoed around speculations that in the future, the Urus might become fully electric.

The Lamborghini Urus

Of note, this was shared to the Australian automotive publication Drive by Mitja Borkert, the head of Lamborghini’s design department himself. As mentioned though, the esteemed designer didn’t outright confirm this.

Instead, he only stated that it would make sense for Lamborghini to develop an all-electric Urus first before any other existing Lamborghini nameplates, as the model belongs to a segment that’s more likely to see daily use. It is a crossover SUV after all, having more in the way of versatility and practicality than other Lamborghini offerings, and is the brand’s best-selling model to date.

For now though, not much is known as to how Lamborghini will convert the existing Urus platform into something that can accommodate an electric powertrain. However, the report also stated that the brand is developing another electric-powered crossover that will come out sometime this decade.

The Urus is Lamborghini's best-selling model as of 2021

So, if we had to guess, maybe the future electrified Urus will be made using the know-how and technical knowledge gained through the development of this yet-to-be-named model. As with most speculations though, one should take this with a healthy grain of salt.

Almost everyone knows though that the Urus is one of the Italian marque’s best-selling models. Currently, the aforementioned crossover uses a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 that can produce 641 hp and 850 Nm of torque.

The Urus is also an all-wheel-drive model, and despite its beefy V8 and its typically eye-catching design, it offers a comfortable cabin. It even has a default cargo capacity of 616 liters, along with plenty of creature comforts.

So, are you excited to see how a fully-electric Lamborghini Urus will turn out? If you are, keep it here for Philkotse for more updates.
