The Stinger passes the torch to its all-electric sibling.

If you have been keeping up with the latest from Kia, then you should be aware that the Korean automaker is discontinuing the Stinger. So to pay homage to the nameplate, Kia released a tribute video that also features the EV6 GT.

The video takes place at a shore where the Kia Stinger is joined by the EV6 GT for a conversation. Both models have a similar story. For instance, both cars have clocked the fastest zero to 100 km/h acceleration times during their respective debuts. Both then went on to share their list of accolades with each other like two successful friends.

While their achievements are nearly identical, there is an underlying difference between the two - their powertrains. The Kia Stinger uses an international combustion engine while the EV6 conforms to the upcoming electric vehicle (EV) era with an all-electric power unit.

The two Kia vehicles then decided to take it to the track, and later perform donuts to conclude the race. Much like sports sedan fans, the Kia EV6 shed a tear at the end of the tribute video.

Reading between the lines, the 2:35 tribute video not only honors the Stinger but also signifies that the EV6 GT has now taken the high-performance model seat in the brand’s lineup.

It was in 2019 when the Kia Stinger arrived in the Philippines, particularly at that year’s Manila International Auto Show (MIAS). The Stinger came with a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 engine capable of generating 365 horsepower and 510 Nm of torque.

In December 2022, the automaker unveiled the Kia Stinger Tribute Edition, which is its final iteration limited to 1,000 units only.

The Kia EV6 will soon arrive in the country as it is scheduled to make its official Philippine debut on March 21, 2023. It will be introduced in its GT-Line form which is capable of outputting 226 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. It then assumes a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) layout.
