Korean carmaker Kia is extending the range of the Seltos with the introduction of the new X-Line flagship variant in India. Although no powertrain updates have been made, the new top-of-the-line variant gets plenty of exclusive cosmetic changes that make the subcompact crossover even more stylish than it already is.

Starting with the ‘Xclusive Matte Graphite’ body color that instantly gives it its distinctive and upscale look. It is complemented by sun orange accents seen on the front lower grille, sides, and rear skid plate. There are also piano black surrounds on strategic areas of the exterior.
The new Kia Seltos X-Line is installed with 18-inch crystal cut Matte Graphite alloy wheels, which is the largest wheel option in the range. To show a uniform design, the new and exclusive set of wheels comes with a sun orange accent that surrounds the Kia logo.
The new flagship variant
Inside, the new top-of-the-line variant boasts ‘Xclusive Indigo Pera Leatherette Seats’ that provide a more premium feel. A 10.25-inch infotainment screen is integrated into the center console which is paired with an 8-speaker BOSE Premium Sound System.
Under the hood, the X-Line is available in two engine options in the Indian market. The first option is a 1.4-liter Smartstream T-Gdi (turbo gasoline) engine that makes 138 hp and 242 Nm of torque, while the other is a 1.5-liter CRDi (diesel) VGT engine that is capable of generating 113 hp and 250 Nm of torque.

As for the transmission, the gasoline powertrain uses a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). Meanwhile, the diesel powertrain sends power to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission.
“Seltos is a breakthrough product that laid a strong foundation and marked the beginning of Kia’s journey in India. This product has been an inspiration for the entire mid-SUV segment in the country, in a true sense,” said Kia India Executive Director and Chief Sales & Business Strategy Officer Tae-Jin Park.
“With the introduction of the top-of-the-line X Line trim, we want to offer an even more premium, exclusive product that will consolidate Seltos imagery leadership and premium positioning,” added Park.
The pricing starts at 1,779,000 Indian Rupee (or around Php 1.214 million) for the turbocharged gasoline option and goes up to 1,810,000 Indian Rupee (or around Php 1.235 million) for the diesel counterpart.
It is now out in India
Kia Philippines, on the other hand, hasn’t put out a word as to whether it will add the X-Line variant to the lineup or not. But considering that the local subcompact crossover segment gets more stylish by the day with models such as the Geely Coolray and Chevrolet Tracker, the Kia Seltos X-Line can go hand-in-hand with its competitors.
