Getting the most out of your vehicle’s fuel economy is crucial these days as oil prices continue to rise. It’s an obvious fact that the current oil prices are taking a toll on all motorists, including those who provide delivery and logistic services.
This is why Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) decided to put the Traviz to the test to find out how fuel-efficient it is. As its challenger in the commercial vehicle segment, the Traviz is designed as a business mobility partner specifically for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). It is essentially meant to be a workhorse vehicle for business use.
IPC conducted a fuel economy drive dubbed One Full Tank Challenge last April 18 to 20. The starting point of the drive is at IPC’s new dealership in La Union, which is the 10th Isuzu dealership in the country to adopt the new Isuzu Outlet Standard corporate look.
IPC President Hajime Koso and Vice President for Sales Yasuhiko Oyama led the official kick-off for the One Full Tank Challenge. Koso said that IPC aims to provide the best business solutions to its customers, which is why the company decided to conduct the fuel economy drive.
“As the number 1 truck brand in the country, we try to provide the best business solutions to our customers, and with the rising fuel prices, we offer to them our most fuel-efficient variants,” Koso said.
“The Isuzu One Full Tank Challenge is our way to test and prove our trucks’ excellent fuel economy, which is why we would like to as much as possible test the efficiency of our truck under normal driving conditions, carrying weight and passing through cities and highways,” Koso added.
From Isuzu La Union, the Traviz headed north all the way to Pagudpud, then down to Cagayan on its first day. The next day, it traveled south before settling the night in Clark, Pampanga. Then, the Isuzu Traviz drove through North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) up to South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) before reaching its final stop at Pagbilao, Quezon.
The Isuzu Traviz clocked in a total of 1,063 kilometers during the three-day drive from La Union to Pagbilao, Quezon. This translates to a fuel economy of 21.3 km/l. The said drive is observed and certified by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP).
The Traviz is equipped with a 2.5-liter 4JA1 Blue Power diesel engine that puts out 77 hp and 176.5 Nm of torque. The said diesel engine is Euro 4 compliant, and it is connected to a five-speed manual transmission with power sent to the rear wheels. Of note, the Isuzu Traviz has a 50-liter fuel tank capacity.
